Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I have been using the 1st edition of I am Special for some years now.
I run social skills groups and do 1:1 sessions with pupils with Asperger's syndrome in a large Secondary school.
I bought this 2nd edition book in the hope that it may be more up to date and offer new ideas. Sadly, I am rather disappointed with it. I found the layout rather complicated and the 'worksheets', although revamped and colourful, not always easy to understand.
The information text to support the worksheets is ok but the picture of the worksheet is really small and difficult to see so you have to have a PC available to be able to view the worksheet, this isn't always convenient, unless you have the time to print them all out. I also found them difficult to print off (but this could be a technical problem my end???.
I think i will use it on occasion but it is not as good or easy to use as the 1st edition.
I wish a 'take a look inside' option was available before i purchased it...but then, if there was, i honestly don't think I would have so maybe that's why there isn't!!!!
If, in a few months, when i have used it more and find it better than i think now, I will post a new, more positive review, but if i don't, then you know I'm still not terribly happy with it and am sticking with the good old 1st edition and the rest of my own designed 'stuff'!!!!!
