The Shining are here!"I Wonder How" is a spacey, blissed out, bass heavy jam that loops, rolls and grooves with the best of 'em.It is without doubt an anthem in the making and you can't help but nod your head in time to the John Bonham-like booming bass drum that threatens to blow your speakers!.B-Sides "Proove Love" and "I Got A Feeling" feature some of the heaviest, bluesy guitar riffs to emerge from these shores in aeons,although they don't carry the same weight as the title track.Lead singer Duncan Baxters sweet but raspy vocals should ensure The Shining don't get lumped in with the post-Britpop nonsense that is currently doing the rounds.
These days having a "doo-doo-doo" in your tune can be a dodgy move but The Shining make it sound fresh and captivating.Verve comparisons are inevitable but grossly unfair because "I Wonder How" carries its own sound altogether.The Shining sound like a band with a purpose and this single carries enough soul,passion and energy to secure their place among the elite of up and coming British guitar bands.Essentially their sound is a full-tilt groove laden monster!Sonically astounding!Make sure you watch this space.
