I've just listened to both CDs of the album twice, and I'm utterly blown away. This guy rocks in a way not many people do.

There's a few reference points, most notably the projects he's been closely involved in. There's the some of the day-glo inspired eccentricity of Julian Cope, some of the vibrant, violent spaciness of Coil, some of the shimmering trance of Spiritualized. The precedents for this album are really Coil's recent 'Musick To Play In The Dark' CDs and his 'Queen Elizabeth' collaborations with Copey.

You'll hear smatterings of Sly & The Family Stone, Black Sabbath, Brian Eno, The The, Can, and goddess knows who else here.

You'll also hear truly original streaks of genius that are so urgent and alive that it's a wonder he's held his own album back so long.

Oh yeah, and some great pop(!) tunes.

Epic, insane, brilliant.

I've had a major change of heart with this album. When I first bought it I found it extremely boring and slated it in my amazon review giving it one star

BUT

after listenning to it a few times it has REALLY GROWN ON ME.

Now I like to play it when writing or surfing the net - it makes a great ambient - (sometimes momentarily intense) - soundtrack for such activities.

If you like long, mainly instrumental tracks of multi-layered intricate synth compositions that are not always rhythmic in a 'tune' sense, like early Tangerine Dream, Tomita, or Ashra Tempel for example, you'll likely love this double album by Thighpaulsandra.

this album is just...WOW! 11 Mar 2002

ok...this albums rocks; plain and simple. i tried reviewing it few weeks ago, but i couldn't find the words to actually explain it...so bear with me. it's really the type of album where lots of different styles come together: um...synth-pop, industrial, glam rock, blues, pure rock & roll, ambient, experimental...eh...ok, forget the tags...this album is a wonderful mixture. it's fun to pick stuff out with your ears. it has catchy moments and moments that only come when you wait for them. the ideas brought forth on this album are awsome. you get jazz(Abuse Foundation IV), industrial(Optic Black), go-go dancing type music(The Angelic Declaration), straight out glam rock(We The Descending), Black Sabbath-type jams(Home Butt Club), ambience(Terrible), classical(Lycraland) and so on and so forth.

bottomline: if you like your music going in 360 degrees at all times, get this record!
