Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Glenn Danzig, the self-proclaimed Master of Darkness, returns with I Luciferi--this time on a lower budget and producing himself. And, from the opening instrumental, "Unendlich"--all ominous guitars and monkish chants--you can tell he's getting it all his own way, fully indulging his obsessions with grinding heavy metal and, naturally, the Devil and his demonic forces. The low budget works for him too. Danzig's production quality has plummeted since his heady days on Def American, but this only adds a very welcome sense of claustrophobia and chaos, as well as a humanity that lends credibility to his grisly pre-occupations. It's an interesting album, too, far from simple, straight-ahead metal. "Black Mass" sees Danzig as a disturbingly tender predator, with the shrieking backing vocals recalling Theatre of Hate. The comedic "Wicked Pussycat" is a kind of sexy rap, while the chugging "Kiss the Skull" with its "whooah! whooah!" middle eight is a satanic Gary Glitter. And it's after this that the album really takes off, particularly with the title track, "Naked Witch" and "Angel Blake", this last track made doubly effective by a quiet, mournful vocal and an extremely atmospheric solo on what sounds like a recorder. The closing "Without Light, I Am" is excellent, too, reminding you of the more explosive moments of Pink Floyd's The Wall. --Dominic Wills

The 'Evil Elvis' returns with a cracker of an album. Like many, I found Danzig's recent output to be a bit disappointing, varying between too experimental and just too formulaic. I Luciferi gets the balance just right though. Monster riffs, atmospheric interludes and Glenn Danzig's silky smooth vocals combine to create his best album since 'How the Gods kill'. Outstanding tracks for me are 'Dead Inside' and album closer 'Without Light I Am'.

excellent release from 'our Glen'.
Wont go into detail like I did with SATANS CHILD but is as recommended.
if you are thinking of a punt I would suggest getting LOST TRACKS also.
Turn up load , dim the lights , spark one up and enjoy.

Nowhere as good as their earlier stuff, but not bad for fans of metal crooners.
