Book Description

3 Mar 2011

Jenna Jenkins was getting married to her long-term boyfriend, Adam, and she was sure her life was all coming together. Until Adam left her for a twenty-three-year-old yoga instructor. To ease the pain, Jenna threw herself into her teenage memories of the late, great Tommy Seer, killed when his car crashed off a bridge in 1987, when she was just twelve, and focusing on the man who has been - and always will be - the true love of her life, however worrying that may seem to her best friend, Aimee.

One day, working late, or thinking about Tommy at her office after dark, a freak accident sends Jenna back to 1987. It's a few short months before Tommy will die and Jenna's job is apparently working as his assistant. But Tommy is not the guy she imagined. He's mean and rude and obnoxious. But he is still deliciously good-looking. When Tommy takes her into his confidence, she starts to see the real him beneath the image and finds herself more in love than ever. He suspects someone is trying to kill him - and she knows it won't be long before they succeed. Why is she here? Is she meant to save his life? But how can she without revealing the bizarre, unbelievable truth?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Romantic time travel book! 31 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback
I love time-travel stories, and I haven't found one in a while, so I was thrilled to pick this one up, and found it difficult to put down again. Very enjoyable story, and I will be looking out for more of Megan Crane's books.
As a previous reviewer pointed out, the main character seems to be stuck in her teens, although she's in her 30's, but a good story is all about how the main character evolves and changes - and Jenna certainly does. Going back to 1987, makes her see the reality of her obsession, and puts it into perspective for her. It also changes how she handles situations, it changes her. I would really recommend this book, whether you know much about the 80's or not. I have lived through the 80's, so found a lot of it amusing, and it brought back some great memories of the time. If you get a chance, read this, very enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love the 80s too! 30 April 2011
By kiki
Format:Paperback
I really enjoyed this book. As I lived through the 80s I was really looking forward to stepping back in time. There were certainly enough references to the 80s and wit to keep me interested. It was an enjoyable, fun read and I couldn't actually put it down waiting to see how it all played out for the main character Jenna. I would recommend this book to anyone who remembers the 80s and had a little crush of their own!

5.0 out of 5 stars Escape back to the 80's! 19 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback
For anyone who loves a bit of chick lit, and remembers anything from the 80's, i'd highly recommend this book.

Main character, Jenna, loved everything about the 80's - the hair, the fashion, the music, but most of all pop legend, Tommy Seer. After been dumped by her fiance, Adam, Jenna spends months living in her 80's bubble, day dreaming about a man she only ever seen in music videos and on posters. Frustrated best friend, Aimee, is constantly reminding Jenna that she needs to live her life in the present day, and forget the long-gone years of the 80's. That is until a freak accident at work sends Jenna spinning right back to 1987, and comes face to face with her idol, Tommy Seer.

I've never read any of Megan Crane's previous books, but in this offering, she mentioned so many great 80's film and music icons, that it was a fantastic trip back down memory lane. Films such as, Pretty In Pink, Dirty Dancing, The Princess Bride, Romancing The Stone and the fabulous Eddie And The Cruisers, all creeped in, as well as music from Madonna, Sting, Cyndi Lauper and U2.

Crane managed to describe 1980's New York City in fantastic detail too, from the homeless people on the street, right the way down to the dirty underground trains.

For anyone looking for some escapism into a fantastic decade, then this is definately the book for you!
