Product Description

“My brothers in true faith,” the Head began, but then paused, a most unusual thing for a man who has never known to be at a loss for words. Finally, he settle on three simple words: “Are you read?”

As a massive object appears in space heading directly toward Earth, the Brotherhood heralds it as Wormwood, one of the signs the Rapture and it’s just three days away. They have been preparing to implement the Great Commission as designated by Jesus—where everyone on the planet must hear the word of God before the end in order to be saved. They will use advanced technology to send that message directly into the minds of every human on the planet. The question is: will the message kill everyone who gets it or save them?

Believing Judas, the anti-Christ is alive and well and living in the Amazon, they also send a team of assassins up the Amazon to find the Great Betrayer and kill him before Armageddon.

Opposing the Brotherhood is the Triumvirate of the Illuminati. They believe they must stop the Great Commission and the assassination team. At the same time they rush to gather nuclear weapons and launch missiles into space to divert the Intruder, as they call the object, believing it to be a natural phenomenon over which technology will prevail.

As the object nears Earth, both sides become locked in a world-wide battle for the future of the human race, as Judas prepares in the jungle for the Second Coming, the fulfillment of his Fifth Gospel.

Which is not at all what anyone expects.

Praise for Bob Mayer’s science thrillers: “A crackling science thriller in the vein of Crichton that mixes action with science fiction.” Kirkus.

“The best combination of science fiction and technothriller this year.” Publishers Weekly.

“Spellbinding! Call it technothriller, call it science fiction, call it just terrific storytelling.” #1 NY Times Bestseller Terry Brooks

About the Author

NY Times bestselling author Bob Mayer has had over 50 books published. He has sold over four million books. He is also the Co-Creator of Cool Gus Publishing, which does both eBooks and Print On Demand, so he has experience in both traditional and non-traditional publishing. His books have hit the NY Times, Publishers Weekly, Wall Street Journal and numerous other bestseller lists. Bob Mayer grew up in the Bronx. After high school, he entered West Point where he learned about the history of our military and our country. During his four years at the Academy and later in the Infantry, Mayer questioned the idea of “mission over men.” When he volunteered and passed selection for the Special Forces as a Green Beret, he felt more at ease where the men were more important than the mission. Mayer’s obsession with mythology and his vast knowledge of the military and Special Forces, mixed with his strong desire to learn from history, is the foundation for his science fiction series Atlantis, Area 51 and Psychic Warrior. Mayer is a master at blending elements of truth into all of his thrillers, leaving the reader questioning what is real and what isn’t. He took this same passion and created thrillers based in fact and riddled with possibilities. His unique background in the Special Forces gives the reader a sense of authenticity and creates a reality that makes the reader wonder where fact ends and fiction begins. In his historical fiction novels, Mayer blends actual events with fictional characters. He doesn’t change history, but instead changes how history came into being. Mayer’s military background, coupled with his deep desire to understand the past and how it affects our future, gives his writing a rich flavor not to be missed. Bob has presented for over a thousand organizations both in the United States and internationally. He has taught organizations ranging from Maui Writers, to Whidbey Island Writers, to San Diego State University, to the University of Georgia, to the Romance Writers of America National Convention, to Boston SWAT, the CIA, Fortune-500, the Royal Danish Navy Frogman Corps, Microsoft, Rotary, IT Teams in Silicon Valley and many others. He has also served as a Visiting Writer for NILA MFA program in Creative Writing. He has done interviews for the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, SportsIllustrated, PBS, NPR, the Discovery Channel, the SyFy channel and local cable shows. For more information see www.bobmayer.org.

I can across Bob Mayer's books by accident, and now I cannot wait to read everyone on them!
Brilliantly written, the only problem is I read them faster than he can write them! More please!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not up to the normal Mayer quality. 18 Nov. 2012

I'm a big fan of Bob Mayer Area 51, Atlantis - you name it I've read it. This one doesn't quite work. The story doesn't live up to expectations and the ending is rushed. As a Bob Mayer fan it gets a 3 from me but others are unlikely to be so kind.

1.0 out of 5 stars JA Curtiss 12 July 2012
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have read many other titles from this author and generally liked all of them. I bought this book expecting more of the same, and from the beginning of the book until roughly 15 pages from the end, I wasn't disappointed. However, this book has set a new world's record for the most abrupt ending by a novel, ever! This book must have been finished in one sitting, or the author was under a severe time constraint, because there should be at least another 50 pages of material to finish it off in a satisfying manner. And I'm being generous here. There could easily be another 100 pages to finish off what was a good front end of this novel. 5 stars!? Really!? Reviewers, don't you think this ending is rushed to the point of being a disappointment? I have no problem with and I enjoyed the ending premise, but this subject deserves a well laid out finale, not an outline of one. A book with this subject matter surely deserves better.
This is the first review I've ever written, and frankly I did it to possibly save some people grief. Buyer beware on this one folks!

4.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down! 13 Dec. 2012
By Joseph - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have read many of Bob Mayer's books, including the Area 51 series written under the pen name Robert Doherty. If you liked the Area 51 series, you will like this book - it is written in the same fast paced, can't put it down style.
The premise of the story is interesting and very thought provoking, and although this is a work of fiction, I can't help but wonder if some elements of the story touch on the actual truth.

2.0 out of 5 stars I, Judas 20 Feb. 2013
By Lynn L. Crooks - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
The premise of the story is very interesting along with the basic plot. However, I felt that it jumped around too much, especially in time. The fact that there were a lot of locations and back and forth in time kept it a little confusing.
Some of the sub-plots didn't seem to be well integrated into the main story. They seemed more like tangents, not a woven fabric.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too many loose ends 18 Feb. 2013
By Cheryl - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Like other reviewers I found the premise interesting but the delivery proved to be very superficial. For the few characters who had some of their back story revealed there was little to explain why they were involved or why they were necessary to the plot. As a result I was left wondering why some characters were even included as their presence did not seem to add anything useful to the story. Overall, the lack of character development accounts for this story's lack of depth.

I also found the rapid switching between time frames to be clumsy and, frequently, confusing. Credibility was strained to breaking point, at times, by the author's apparent lack of understanding in certain areas, e.g. the rate at which satellites orbit and use of appropriate terminology. The finale of the encounter with Judas and the Intruder were acceptable but not an appropriate place to ended the narrative. The repercussions needed to be examined into in order for the ending to be satisfactory.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fast-moving action. 23 Feb. 2013
By Jan Penman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
If you're an action fan, this is a book for you.
I shy away from stories digging up 'hidden' facts about the Bible, as they tend to stretch my credulity to the limit. At some stages the author examines the interface between religion and science, but only succeeds in showing that water and oil don't mix.
There was sloppy editing - Berretta instead of Beretta.
Apart from the above, a good action-packed thriller. The passages about military operations lent a cinematic sweep to the story.
I must thank The Story Cartel for the free digital copy I received in return for an unbiased opinion.
