Artistically designed and artisanally crafted stationery and paper goods are becoming increasingly popular, and this book is a wonderful overview of the best designers, the many techniques, and the most groundbreaking designs used for handcrafted stationery and paper goods. Designed as a tactile, take-anywhere package, this book appeals not only to graphic designers but also to crafters looking for inspiration, stationery designers looking to expand their range of techniques, and design-conscious fans and collectors of all manner of stationery and paper ephemera.

Organized by technique, it includes everything from screen printing to papercutting and woodblock. Each chapter begins with an overview to provide an understanding of the processes involved, which is then followed by stunning contemporary examples of stationery created employing that particular technique. 5.0 out of 5 stars every page is a delight 30 Mar 2012

I'm in lust. I want everything in this book! As a big stationery fan, I love how someone's come up with a book documenting the work of some of the designers and crafters who are making and selling stationery today. I Heart Stationery: Fresh Inspirations for Handcrafted Cards, Note Cards, Journals, & Other Paper Goods is filled with an assortment of delicious eye candy that is sure to tempt stationery and paper lovers.

The book is divided into different chapters each focused on a particular method or process: hand-drawn illustrations, screen-printing, letterpress printing, block printing, digital illustration, calligraphy, papercutting and collage/3D/sewn techniques. Each chapter starts with a short introduction to the process and the tools used for it. Then several creators are featured with a few sentences of texts and at least 2 photos of their work. One of the things I like best about the book is the description of how the designers go about executing their craft: whether they draw images by hand or digitally, what software, paper, inks, printers and other materials they use.

Altogether, over 100 stationery makers (many of them small, independent stores) with a range of styles are showcased. There are contemporary as well as vintage-influenced or type-dominant designs. Author Charlotte Rivers has also included a resource section with links to the designers' web pages, the names and website addresses of paper suppliers, letterpress studios, screenprinters, arts and crafts shops, related trade shows and blogs.

I love stationery. I love this book. Reading it is not just a joy, it's also temptation to buy (more) stationery, and inspiration to start making some (more) stationery of my own.

This wasn't a how-to book on stationery but more a guide to find nice stationery. I ended up returning it.

I was disappointed in this book. I felt the title was very misleading and I would certainly not recommend this book to anyone.
