Product Description

Philosopher, MC, teacher; there is only one man in rap music that fits this description, and there is not much left that he needs to prove. In just a little over 10 years, KRS-One has gone ghetto-platinum, all of his releases considered rap classics. Both with Boogie Down Productions and as a solo artist, KRS has schooled rap fans with his thoughtful, intelligent lyrics. On I GOT NEXT, KRS-One continues to take hip-hop beyond entertainment and into education. Musically, KRS still delivers the raw hip-hop he's famous for. "The MC" is head-nodding rap at it's best, with KRS' lyrical flow adding even more depth to a multidimensional track. "Step Into a World" features rowdy lyrics and a loud party-anthem beat that will rock any crowd. On the Enhanced CD, KRS-One talks about the Temple of Hip-Hop, the school that he intends to build, which will be centered around the preservation of hip-hop culture.

By I. Bilton VINE VOICE on 10 Feb. 2004
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
This is one of the best examples of real hip-hop. Krs one with this release came up with yet another album with pumping beats and with KRS's awsome ability to preach using super tight lyrics and flow.
A very good reason apart from the lure of pure verbal wordplay paradise is step into a world (raptures delight) this tune is worth the purchase of the album itself it comes with an old school beat and comes with one of the seetest mos fragile and harrowing choruses ive ever heard (if that makes sense to you please put your answer on a post card but i cant think of any other way to describe it).
You may of heard of KRS just recently and i can confirm that unless he blasts out some new good stuff he has fallen off and this was withlout doubt his last good album (barring retrospective but thats more of a greatest hits compilation).
Anyone who thinks hip-hop should teach and educate should by this or if you just like tight rapping and clever wordplay then buy this.
If you like this album try KRS ONE's earlier efforts and also his work in Boogie down productions.

HASH(0x9dbc7204) out of 5 stars Long awaited classic 4 Aug. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This album is easily one of the best albums to come out in the last decade. From the opening "shots" to the closing "dunks" KRS flips rhymes and blends beats like only a master could. His experimentation with metal and his association with rap's leech (Puff Daddy) are the only blights on what would otherwise be an instant classic. If you like true hip-hop, both music and culture, then this album is one that you must have in your collection.

HASH(0x9dbc7624) out of 5 stars KRS makes Puffy sound good! 26 Jan. 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is one of the innovative hip-hop records that KRS has produced. For those wondering what true hip-hop is, pick this up. I was very disappointed that KRS did a track with hip-hop's leech, Puff Daddy. But even that track is fresh. This album is worth your money. Listen and get lost in KRS' words. Yo Kris! Please don't do any more tracks with Puff! Please!

HASH(0x9dbc763c) out of 5 stars Weakest of KRS-ONE's efforts, saved by "A Friend" 29 Nov. 2004
By Mod - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I would never diss a KRS record, but this one was just a typical superstar-experimentation CD that we've all heard our favorite artists do. Track 17, "Just to Prove a Point" is EMBARRASSING! That's not KRS-ONE, and that's not hip-hop. However, Track 7, "A Friend", features the illest production on the album. I don't know what the spotlight reviewer said about it being weakly produced. It's probably one of the best tracks I've ever heard dropped by the Blastmaster. If you want this album, purchase it for that track and enjoy the rest.

HASH(0x9dc27d20) out of 5 stars 4 Stars- KRS still regins supreme 2 Oct. 2002
A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
KRS-One is hands down the greatest MC of all time. He has old-school cred and is still holding it down. That said, this album is great. It didn't sound good at first listen but it has really grown on me.
Pros: The tracks The MC, Step Into a World, and A friend are killer. Heartbeat is my favorite track and Angie and Redman have great pieces on it.
Cons: Unsteller beats and some "filler" drag this album down. But by being such a great MC, KRS-One's rhymes can overcome poor beats.

HASH(0x9dbc7450) out of 5 stars Real Hip Hop 4 July 2002
By Gerald Johnson Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
I was really suprised when I heard this CD. This CD shows what the Real Hip Hop is about. It's a shame radio stations do not play KRS-ONE music alot since there are some great tracks such as The MC, Step into a world, a friend, and can't stop wont't stop. You can obviously tell this album took sometime to put together and wasn't just thrown together to make a album. People like Nelly and Fabolous sell records basically off of catchy beats but have nothing to offer lyrically. I don't fault people for buying those sub-par albums but they are just uneducated about what Real Hip Hop is all about. I hope KRS-ONE next album is as good as this one.
