I thought this would be right up my street because I love a British rom-com, but this drivel was certainly not anything to be impressed by. I found myself bored about 20 minutes in and I smiled a few times at the 'comedy' which was actually down to Minnie Driver every time, and her character was only in the film for about a 5th of the running time. Considering it had an impressive cast who have proven themselves to be funny and talented in other projects, I'm surprised this was so bad. I even sat through it again to give it the benefit of the doubt, hoping it would grow on me, but it didn't! I want to know how much Heat were paid to give it 5 stars and call it 'brilliantly funny' because it certainly isn't! If you really want to see this then I would recommend waiting a few months, it will soon be in the 3 section in the supermarkets!

Save this for a special day... specifically the one where you've found you have a terminal illness and are contemplating euthanasia. This movie will definitely push you to end it all.

Other reviewers have written "totally unfunny" and actually that isn't true. There are maybe one or two minutes of amusing material - I'm not a big Olivia Colman fan, but her with the doll is great. The rest is awful.

I love Rose Byrne(insidious 1 & 2) she is a brilliant little actress, plus she is just beautiful, but once again she has made a bad choice staring in this rubbish film, Bad Neighbours for one, I thought nothing could get any worse than that.

This was a truly awful film, and I just hope she makes a wiser choice in the future, I mean the 3some and the dove scene was just awful, the only positive thing I can say is the half naked ladies, they where very nice, plus the photo slideshow was the funniest part of the film.

"I Give It A Year" is a romantic comedy that turned out to be neither funny nor particularly romantic. A whirlwind romance between an attractive young couple leads to a quick wedding that looked like it must have cost a fortune. However no sooner are the newly weds back from honeymoon than the couples eyes start wandering and marital disenchantment sets in. Both of them find themselves tempted to have liaisons with more compatable potential mates and swiftly they end up in a marriage guidance office. Will their marriage survive the year mark ? This film is full of unlikeable characters (especially Stephen Merchant) and the institution of marriage is treated very shabbily throughout. The film seemed to think it was hilarious but I didn't laugh once. I found the "humour" cringeworthy and vulgar. My only sympathies were with the family who shelled out their hard earned cash for the wedding when neither party really loved the other.

Awful. On the whole too contrived and straining too hard to be funny, and failing except in a very schoolboyish way. At times cringe-worthy with a few high points. We gave up watching after about 30 min, but from what we saw the characters and the storyline were not remotely convincing, engaging or entertaining. Some preposterous plot-holes too. Have rarely felt so disappointed with a British film boasting such a sparkling cast. I feel sorry for the actors.

Thought it was funny in places, but wish I'd never watched it. Whoever wrote it, obviously doesn't know the meaning of marriage, it's been trivialized and made out to be something you can chop and change like a pair of underpants!!! Don't bother watching!! If I could have I wouldn't have given any stars at all.

When I saw names like Minnie Driver and Simon Baker, I expected a quality movie. Esquire magazine is quoted as calling it an "outstanding British comedy". I would say that 'outstanding British rubbish' would be a more apt description. My advice - don't waste your money.

I can't believe this has what it has come to.. that divorce is the way.. this film is just unfunny.. and as far as i'm concerned should be burned so it doesn't make people believe that cheating on your wife or husband is ok as long as you want to get into someone else pants..
