5.0 out of 5 stars Wide circle of emotion 15 Sep 2004
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this film simply because I'm a huge fan of Anthony La Paglia and was expecting some heavy ex-cop movie. But instead, I got at least an hour of great comedy, mostly coming from Mr La Paglia himself. Some of the moments are priceless, like his reaction in a later scene where Keifer's character is banging his head on a cafe table. He really ought to do more comedy stuff.
At the same time, this is a movie about desperation, how your whole life can be taken away from you in one moment and how you will grab at anything to lift you up again. I'm not a big fan of Keifer, but I liked him in this. But, for me, Tony stole the show, despite the dodgy hair!
As this is so reasonably priced, you could do worse than buy this movie for a night in with the TV.

4.0 out of 5 stars Such a good film, yet no ones heard of it. 18 May 2004

I brought this film because i was a fan of Kiefer Sutherland. When i started to watch it a thought its was the funnyist film ever made. and The most thrilling to watch as well. Trust me if you buy this you will not be upset. Because it is one of the best Kiefer has made since The Lost Boys. A Gem that can be watch over and over again. Lets just hope he makes more like this.

2.0 out of 5 stars 'Its So Shiny!' 2 Jun 2003
Format:VHS Tape
You know you're in trouble when that is the best line in the whole film, although it should be appreciated in context. I will admit that that particular moment of the film is uplifting, amusing, and subtle.

The only problem is the rest of it. Sutherland practically reprises his role from the innovative 24, although the recently retired 'Pally' is nowhere near as likeable. Sympathy and interest dwindle from the outset, and no number of accidental killings and midnight horse thefts can salvage it. The plot ambles and the action scenes are unpredictable but you won't care about the outcome, because the characters are so irredemably self-absorbed and stereotyped. The father-daughter combination is momentarily interesting, but there is nothing new in this film. The cliches are not even propounded with anything like accomplished skill. Fans of Sutherland, which as one myself as I could see as the target audience, should steer well clear and go straight back to the two 24 sets. This is a drama poorly disguised as an action film, and it does none of the actors - some of whom have made quite recent, credible performances - any credit.
