Product Description

This showcase of short stories from the Crime Writers' Association celebrates the 'who' in the whodunnit, the psyche behind the psychological profile. Husbands lead double lives, psychologists confuse perpetrators with ex-partners, neighbours reassess the people they thought they knew. It seems if there's one thing you can't classify or slap an ID card on, it's the id.

Very enjoyable 20 Jan 2011
By M. V. Clarke VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
As always, this collection of short stories from the Crime Writers' Association contains some superb entries. This volume is on the theme of identity, and the stories explore a wide range of scenarios, from the mildly comic to more deeply disturbing ones. Settings are as diverse as New Zealand, the Vatican, a village in post-war Britain and an airport. The approach taken by the various writers varies hugely too, from self-contained stories, such as Robert Barnard's sinister account of the election of a new Pope in the Sistine Chapel, to intriguing snapshots of an apparently much wider story, such as Christine Poulson's excellent story set in the Guggenheim Museum in Venice. As always, some stories will appeal more than others, depending on your reading preferences, but overall, the collection is highly commended - enjoy the short story as a brilliant form in its own right, and perhaps also discover some new authors.
