5.0 out of 5 stars A proper uplifting album 3 Mar 2004
Format:Audio CD
I went to see the stereophonics as a couple of reviewers had and he was supporting and did a real stand up job of it so I bought this CD. I've seen a couple of albums saying they "feared" it'd be a bit of a charlatans spin off, and though I think the Charlatans are a top band this is nothing like what I've heard from them.
It's a really uplifting, summery album that just sticks you in a good mood. As tempted as I am to say it could be stuck into a more poppy genre than his earlier work with the band, I've not heard anything quite like it.
Its an easy listening album that you'll listen to again and again so go get it man, you'll love it sitting in the summer sun with a cool glass of lager.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tim Burgess - I Believe 18 Sep 2003
Format:Audio CD
I have to disagree somewhat with Alistair from Glasgow's review on Sir Tim's debut solo effort. Granted, it's different from anything The Charlatans have ever done, with the slight exception being the continuation of Tim's falsetto vocals that were apparent on Wonderland. But if Tim wanted to do a Charlatans album then he quite easily could have - instead he has opted for an expression of his own musical tastes and influences (of which strangely include Twiggy Ramirez alongside the Beach Boys and John Lennon according to the notes on the sleeve). From the introduction of the single 'I Believe' (which sounds remarkably like the music used by Sacha Baron Cohen's character Borat) it is obvious that we are in for something different. The rest of the album doesn't disappoint either, with standout tracks 'Only a Boy' and 'Oh My Corazon' warming the heart and uplifting the soul. If it's The Charlatans sound that you're after then this album is probably not for you. But if you want to hear one of the most underated British musical talents mixing his influences and sharing it with the world then you could do a lot worse than buying this album. The only disappointment with this fine offering is that we don't have a Pacific Coast Highway in England to cruise along at 40 mph with the top down. I guess the M25 will have to do for the time being.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing solo effort that brings out the true Tim 30 May 2004
Format:Audio CD
As a fan of the charlatans i was looking forward to the release of this album every since i heard about it. I've got to say i was not disappointed!. This is an amazing album which i will never tire of listening to. To me this defines the summer feeling with melodies and lyrics that you will instantly fall in love with. I got this album as soon as it came out (last year) and it feels fresh every time i listen to it. A great album from a man which will continue to amaze me with his heartfelt lyrics and knack for a great tune. This album is Tim Burgess through and through and is therefore a joyous, uplifting album which has something for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic.......Go on Tim!! 17 Sep 2003
Format:Audio CD
Being a big Charlatans fan, from 'Some Friendly' right through to 'Wonderland', I bought Tim's debut solo album
without hearing any of the tracks. The whole album is superb from start to finish. Don't buy 'I Believe' thinking it will sound
like the Charlatans - because the majority of the songs don't. Although, in my opinion, tracks 1 & 11 (I Believe & All I ever do)
would have fitted nicely on either the next Charlatans release or their latest album 'Wonderland'.
In short, every song is great & different with one or two tracks swaying towards his roots. A Fantastic Debut Solo Album.......10/10!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Different style, same high quality 20 Aug 2012
By Mc W
Format:Audio CD
I've always loved The Charlatans , but for some reason never bought this solo cd at the time. Reading Tim Burgess' (brilliant) autobiography Tellin' Stories inspired me to giving this a go. And it's great - bright summery catchy soulful tunes, with Burgess' distinctive vocal delivery. His new solo album's out next month. I hope it's as good as this!
