About the Author
Suzie Hayman is the author of many books on health and relationship issues. She herself had a hysterectomy at the age of 33. Suzie lives in Kendall, Cumbria.

An easy to read and simple to understand book about hysterectomies which will give readers 99% of the facts surrounding the op.Very useful to read before you go in and gives you info that the hospital may not think of.

I read this book as I am facing a hysteretomy in the near future. I found it very informative without using lots of 'technical jargon', and it covered issues that the patient might not think of asking about. It explains in straight-forward terms what to expect before, during and after the operation. Very useful.

I bought this book with the intention of giving it to my mom, who was about to undergo a hysterectomy. Unfortuneatly, I found the content old fashioned, even frightening in places for someone about to have the operation. The content was not particulary positive, seeming to focus on the 'lenghty recovery' and the different (negative) effects that having the operation could have on you. Saying all that however, there were some good, informative parts - the chapter on the different operations for a hysterectomy and why a hysterectomy may be needed was particularly interesting. I have since found out that this book is available in an further updated edition (this one was last updated in 1994 and has black and white cover), and I would urge anyone to purchase the newer one, as I am sure this would be more suitable. This book may also appeal more to someone who has a certain amount of choice whether to have a hysterectomy; I would not recommend it for someone who has no choice in the matter.
