Whilst I have no idea how this CD compares to others on the market, as it is the only one I've tried, I can tell you that so far it's working. Moreover, I'm surprised at how quickly it seems to be helping.
My IBS had reached chronic proportions. I was bent double with pain for months and spent most of the day in the loo. Not great for either my career or my social life or my home life! I made changes to my diet, cut out my glass of vino, almost all caffine, took fiber suplements, drank gallons of peppermint tea and took the prescription meds - it got worse and worse regardless. Finally, the doctor wanted to give me Codine - which is an opiate and addictive!!!! How scary is that? Mercifully, I refused the Codine and bought this CD instead. Two days later for the first time in months, the pain is low enough to go about my ordinary life ALL day and I haven't had to excuse myself to go to the little girl's room or go home during any important meetings. I even actually felt hungry at lunchtime for the first time in weeks and enjoyed what I ate without 'paying the price' all afternoon! When I do get a little gas pain, closing my eyes and conjuring up the visualisations again, seems to make it go away. I dare say no CD can be as good as a programme of sessions with a hypno thereapist, but give it a go! If this seems to be working for you (and I discover that 80% of IBS suffers do get significant improvements out of hynosis), go scream at your doctor until they refer you for hypno therapy on the NHS- that's what I'm going to do! I want to ditch the antacids and the immodiom as well!

Having read the reviews before buying this CD I think I was expecting to much. It does help to stop the pain sometimes and it is quiet relaxing. But no way could I say it had made my IBS any better so I was disappointed with this purchase and would not recommend it.

When I first started using this CD, I'd had IBS for more than 7 years and it was getting worse. The effect has been amazing! Within a few days, the symptoms had reduced dramatically (I'd say by about 80%). I continued using the CD for a number of weeks, and even after I stopped, the improvement was maintained. I'm writing this 8 months later and it's still just as good. A couple of times, stressful events have caused a flare-up, so I've just gone back to using the CD again for a few days or so and that has been enough to settle it.
I'd recommend this CD to anyone, even if you're not keen on the idea of hypnotherapy. I'd tried a couple of others before this, and didn't get on with them at all. Charles Vald has none of the silly, spooky, theatrical characteristics of some of the therapists I've heard - no gimmicks, no Mystic Meg voice, just a gentle, soothing voice to guide you into deep relaxation. Worth every penny.
