Format:Audio CD
I was looking for a CD for a sick friend who is very much in need of something to raise her spirits. What I really wanted was BBC Songs of Praise without the pretentious solo stuff, really sing-a-long-able. These are hymns remebered from childhood, sometimes in unison, sometimes in wonderful arrangements for parts, all sung to the very high standard that could be expected from such a renowned choir. There is a book of all the words to the hymns so joining in is made easy. If one was too tired to join in then it is equally uplifting to just listen. I loved it so much that I bought a copy for myself too.

Format:Audio CD
Most of these hymns are those I grew up singing in chapel or in school assembly. The first on the album - "And Did Those Feet" HAS to be my all time favourite - recalling innumerable memories of my childhood and young adulthood.
I was born and brought up in Huddersfield, and left my home town at the age of 21, some 45 years ago. The HCS was an institution we were all SO proud of - indeed, the HCS apart, Huddersfield has a wonderful tradition of music and singing.
The album doesn't disappoint and - living abroad and unable to hear these traditional hymns now means I can indulge myself whenever I wish in listening to and singing along with the best choral society ever!

Format:Audio CD
This CD does exactly what it says on the tin. Lots of rousing hymns which everyone knows and good in the car as you can sing your heart out with no complaints and feel greatly uplifted at the same time.

Powerful and Peaceful

A very good cd indeed ,I am not a regular churchgoer but remembered many of the hymn's and thoroughly enjoyed listening to them all again
