Product Description

Product Description

This updated edition offers an essentially practical introduction to hydrology, emphasizing the application of hydrological knowledge to the solution of engineering problems. Set in a global context, hydrological extremes are taken from worldwide situations and examples of engineering applications from many countries are cited. Hydrological processes, with emphasis on methods of measurement, are separated from analytical techniques and the book culminates in a selection of civil engineering spheres of operation requiring hydrological expertise, demonstrating some of the well tried methods and some of the new techniques applied in current practice. SI units are used throughout, but when non-standard units are used for convenience in practice these are retained, and certain comparisons with imperial units have been included. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This book covers the theory of hydrology from the basic water cycle through to open channel flows and precipition analysis in an easy and clear manner. It always points out the different analysis approaches giving a balanced and broad approach. To compliment this detail is given on the practicalities of field work and equipment needed to actually go about collecting the required data for the theories. Essentially a well balanced view of all aspects of hydrology - enough detail to be useful but not so much theory as to bog you down. I recommend it :-)
