As literally the thirstiest person in the world and as someone who spends a lot of time outdoors during the non-winter months I can tell you I have often went for a few hours without a drop hitting my tongue and it has sometimes been difficult to endure, especially if you are out in the middle of nowhere with no shops around. Lugging a 2 litre bottle of water around isn't always practical, more so if you are on a bike, so this hydration pack is the perfect answer.

It has a little straw, which reminds of the little contraption Jackie Chan had in Operation Condor (only I think his was built into his jacket), so don't need to dismount to wet your mouth. It holds a massive 7 litres, which will no doubt last you for a day's worth of summer trekking, or at the very least keep you peeing for up to 5 minutes at a time. It's not an overbearing pack either as it feels lightweight (depending on much you fill it) and small. The material also feels very durable and unlikely to fray.

Fill it with water, or Powerade if you wish, and don't worry about going dry and dizzy when you're out in the wilderness. A wise purchase.

A friend recommended this to me. I love cycling, and while stopping to pull a drink out of your pack can be annoying, I just fail to see the point of this invention. Like really, are we now this lazy? It reminds me of the million and one gadgets you see on the TV shopping channels these days claiming to make your life easier; are any of them really necessary?

I'm probably being unfair. I've only tried this little Hydropak once and it did what it was supposed to do just fine; it's easy to fill up and not at all awkward to drink from, no leaks, no blockages, no complaints, although I did feel a bit of a wally riding through the town centre on a grocery run with a straw sticking out of my backpack and hovering near my face. Maybe my negative impression is because I'm more of a casual cyclist who can just pull over in the park and pull a small drink bottle out, and that keeps me going just fine throughout the ride until I get home. This item is probably more designed for those in races for whom pulling over would cost them valuable time so in fairness I will put my subjective indifference aside and give it a positive rating because in that situation it'd be a lifesaver. But for me? I think I'll live without it quite happily.

One small niggle; nowhere on the Amazon page does it say which capacity this bag takes - it's actually 3L according to the label, and when I filled mine up, it took almost 3 and a half. One other reviewer says his takes 7 - I can only imagine he got a different sized bag to the rest of us!! Come on though Amazon, it's a pretty important piece of information to have under the product description!

Very impressed with this. Great design:
- Comfy back padding and well padded shoulder straps.
- Lots of extra straps to keep everything secure - like you can see in the picture.
- Has a bottle pouch at the front in case you prefer that to the hydration pouch (or for extra stuff!)
- The water pouch sits in the pocket near your back. It has a really clever fold over clip design to close it. Looks to be no chance of leaks or seals coming undone. I have not had any problems on my few runs out. A clip hanger at the top keeps it balanced and upright. Elastic loops and a clip guide the drinking tube from the top of the bag to chest height. No leaks from the tube.
- Great inner section for extra stuff. It had 3 velcro secured pockets, a hook at the top to keep something from bumping around the bottom of the bag and another mesh pocket. Plenty of room for phone, keys, emergency supplies, food, a lightweight jacket or extra layer.
So very pleased overall. I do running mostly and haven't been on a long enough journey out yet to really do this justice so looking forward to planning a proper adventure!

My brother's a keen commuter cyclist and sometime runner - here's what he thought of this item:

I have trialled the Aquapack on three occasions performing three different activities;

1) I attempted to go running with the pack on my back. The problems I had with this product was that it bounced around on my back and when I was sweating it caused painful rubbing. If I tightened the straps it restricted my breathing.

2) I tried walking with the pack. This appeared pointless as I could just carry a bottle of drink in a normal backpack which would have been easier.

3) I used it on my bicycle which worked but it caused my back to sweat and when you get a cold wind on a sweaty back it is not pleasant. Therefore it is easier to just have a drink bottle attached to the frame of the bike and drink when you stop at lights or a clear road.

All in all it was quite difficult to set up compared to just filling up or buying a drink. It is a well designed clever product but in my opinion it is less useful than just carrying a bottle of drink in a bag.

This is a great product for anyone who enjoys running or cycling or even walking in the summer and who needs to carry plenty of liquid to keep themselves hydrated. The bag is light weight & comfortable to wear with padding against your back and wide, padded straps. It also has additional cross straps over your chest and stomach that hold the bag securely in place even when you're on the move and helps to prevent chaffing.

The water pouch holds around 3 litres of water, is fairly easy to fill up and I've not had any trouble so far with leaks. The attached straw makes it very easy to drink on the move and it comes with a valve that prevents leakage so you don't end up wearing half the water you'd been carrying.

The bag is on the small side but has enough room for all your essentials - money, keys, small jacket etc and even a small picnic. The water pouch is in a separate pocket so any condensation is kept away from the rest of your belongings.
