Dr Huw Lewis-Jones is a British historian and curator with a PhD from the University of Cambridge. Formerly Visiting Fellow at Harvard University and Curator of both the National Maritime Museum and the Scott Polar Research Institute, Huw now writes and lectures widely about history, exploration and the visual arts.
The first book in his acclaimed adventure photography series, "Polar Portraits", has now been published in numerous foreign languages. He recently authored "Arctic", to accompany the popular BBC series, as ghostwriter for adventurer Bruce Parry whilst also publishing "Last Days of the Arctic" for celebrated photographer Ragnar Axelsson.
Huw has just completed his two new books "Mountain Heroes" and "In Search of the South Pole". He is now exploring a number of books on subjects ranging from photography and nautical adventure, to art history, travel writing, and the maritime imagination.
Huw is married to the author and photographer Kari Herbert and they live in Cornwall, where he continues to work as an international freelance curator and art director, as well as being a historical and heritage consultant for media and broadcasting projects. Huw is Editor of "The Trafalgar Chronicle", the annual maritime history journal, and Editorial Director of the indie publisher Polarworld.
