Director robert aldrich made this movie 2 years after "whatever happened to baby jane" and was intended as a companion piece with the same two stars, bette davis and joan crawford, but miss crawford pulled out shortly after filming with ill health and was replaced by olivia de havilland. It starts in 1927 with a society girl(davis) having an affair with a married man who ends up murdered, but by whom?It then shifts to 1964 with bette davis living alone in a soon to be demolished mansion, where she has lived with the guilt,(the whole town blamed her for the murder but she got off) and is seemingly going mad.Her cousin ,de havilland ,arrives to help her move out but has alterior motives .I wont give anything else away it would spoil it for you but it is definitely worth seeing. The disc (region 1 only) has a commentary ,trailers and tv spots.Very enjoyable if slightly long.
