What a Surprise! 11 Dec 2008

I ordered this album on the back of a decent review in Uncut. I am sometimes disappinted when I take a gamble by ordering on the strength of just one review, but not this time. Imagaine a mix of Neil Young, Vetiver, The Espers and you will be close to the sound of Hush Arbors. Similar to the aforementioned but with a style and sound of their own. Pysch folk is a broad generalisation but whatever you call it no one can doubt the brilliance of the delicate songs and the ethereal feel it generates. One to treasure.

Too much nonsense is written by reviewer`s trying endlessly to pigeonhole the artist and the music.I don`t know what you`d call this,and wouldn`t try to find the right box.Just buy it and enjoy.Nonsense enough for you?

This is a great album, an interesting extension of his earlier work. The tunes here are more robust, more succinct-less atmospheric than what has come before. If you like this, definitely check out the older stuff, particularly Under Bent Limbed Trees, and (if you can find it!) Landscape of Bone. One thing about Amazon's listing; the song samples here are not for the album listed, but for his older self titled album.
