Book Description

First time on audio for this author. 'This savvy romance crams in tears, laughter, break-ups and make-ups - the perfect confection' Mail on Sunday 'Compelling and full of that's-so-true moments' Company 'Dark, funny and upfront' Cosmopolitan Four intertwining stories are read by four readers - two male, two female. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

Bella secretly married her childhood sweetheart, Stevie, over a decade ago; they were at university, two big kids playing at being grownups. When it all unravelled and reality hit, Bella simply got up and left. And the secret remained a secret.

Years later, Bella meets Philip and, despite her vow never to marry again, she can't resist him. He is a catch. Funny, charming, interesting and kind. Only hitch is, she's still (technically, anyway) married to Stevie. Bella, typically, just ignores the problem. And the moment to tell Philip never quite seems to arrive.

So Bella plans never to reveal her secret - after all, it's just a silly piece of paper, lodged at a registrar's office in Aberdeen, isn't it? She hasn't seen Stevie for years - probably never will again. Except that Bella's best friend Laura has fallen in love, and when she introduces her new man to the gang it is none other than Stevie. Could things get any more complicated? Only if Bella and Stevie fall in love with each other again...

Husbands 6 Aug 2005
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This is the no 1 holiday read!! I took this book with me to Spain to read on the beach and pass the time, I got so engrossed with Bella and her predicament that I was in serious danger of sunburn! I found myself caught up in the lives of the characters in this book, exasperted with Stevie, hurting for the lovely Laura and annoyed wtih the pompous Amelie. I cared who Bella ended up with! This is my first book by Adele Parks and I found the book amusing, witty and loved the style of the author, so much so that I have now ordered all her other books.

An excellent read 4 July 2005
Format:Paperback
I have read a couple of her other books as a typical 'holiday read' and I thought I would read this as I found the others really good and I wasn't disappointed. I felt that the characters were very realistic and I felt that I could really engage myself in the storyline. There are a lot of funny moments in the story and the humour is used in a very witty context. I read the whole book in two days (and that's with a full time job!) and I have recommended it to my friends. Even if you have never read any of Adele Parks books before - it's a savvy romance with a comic value. Excellent.

Delightful 11 July 2005

Format:Paperback
Delightful book that has both the romantic as well as a funny side to it. Extremely enjoyable. I also recommend Fire In The Ice as well as Good In Bed as well. I have read them both. Excellent.

Adele Park's best book.
A fantastic gripping plot. Although it is completely unrealistic, I got drawn into the main character's dilema and couldn't put it down. Read more

Unconvincing but entertaining enough
I've only read one previous Parks novel (Game Over) which I really enjoyed, but found this one unconvincing, contrived and sometimes really quite unpleasant. Read more

Far-fetched
While I enjoyed Playing Away and Young Wives Tales (interestingly a follow-up on Playing Away), I did not like Husbands at all. In fact, I couldn't finish it. Read more

Husbands by Adele Parks
This is perhaps one of Adele Parks' best yet. Each chapter is cleverly written from the perspective of each of the 4 main characters. Read more

Hmmm
The problem with this book is that all the characters are so utterly unlikable, living lives that I am suspicious that we are supposed to envy rather then relate to. Read more
