Biography

Huntress was spawned from the preternatural union of Jill Janus and Southern California metal band Professor. They thrive on thundering drums, heavy riffs, spectral solos and catchy choruses that come from the band’s musical concoction of occult science and bong rips.

Huntress released their buzzworthy debut album Spell Eater on April 27, 2012 via Napalm Records. The album, which Metal Hammer calls “a magical debut from the hottest new act of 2012,” was recorded in January 2012 in Los Angeles and produced by Chris Rakestraw (Danzig, Children of Bodom and Skeletonwitch). The music video for the album’s title track sums up the band at its core: true to the roots of melodic heavy metal with a penchant for thrash, death and black metal.

Jill Janus: "I began to open the stargate with "Spell Eater", and specifically the song "Sleep and Death" which references deep space. We are children of Earth, but crave the stars, the vast galactic unknown. I began writing the second album while on tour last summer in Europe. I'd wake up at odd hours while everyone slept and began receiving lyrics and melodies that were expanding beyond my knowledge of the occult."

"Starbound Beast" will blow minds; HUNTRESS remains true to the roots of melodic heavy metal, but has advanced musically and will indeed surprise many metal fanatics with their stunning new material. The band's thundering drums, heavy riffs, spectral solos and catchy choruses are derived from the musical concoction of esoteric science and bong rips. "Starbound Beast" is your ship to other realms and beyond!
