`advice on how to break free from a small life and small thoughts and tap into your real potential.'
-- The Bookseller, April 3, 2009

Product Description

This is an inspiring guide to help you transmute and eliminate fear and live a positive life.

For anyone who feels trapped in a small job, small life and small thoughts, martial arts expert Geoff Thompson demonstrates how to break free from the shackles of limitation and tap into the reserves of potential many of us have forgotten existed.

If you ever thought that big dreams were only ever worth dreaming about, this book will teach you how to make them a reality. Drawing on the poem "Night Traveller" by Sufi mystic Rumi, Geoff provides direction on facing your fears and taking the initiative to go out into the night to hunt and fight, and ultimately using them to transform your life for the good. "Hunting the Shadow" contains advanced methods in understanding, controlling and channeling fear into a profitable commodity.

He is now the author of thirty-four books published in 15 languages, five multi-award-winning films (one BAFTA nominated, one BAFTA winning), three stage plays and hundreds of published articles.

Geoff's autobiography, Watch My Back, has been adapted into a major motion picture, Clubbed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice work.. 10 Nov 2010
It's a very good book. "Shadow" is just another name for "inner demons" or "sub-personalities" or "ego" as commonly known. And these Shadows essentially are our enemy for a better life. They seek control over us, and if left to their own devices will do just that.

The book is geared towards self-mastery and inner growth which we accomplish through identifying and dissolving our biggest Shadows which consist of (1) confronting and dissolving our fears, (2) killing our addictions, and (3) controlling the inner voice that is full of excuses (even of seemingly legitimate ones).

5.0 out of 5 stars Developing a Life Conquering Force 27 April 2010
Geoff speaks from his life with great impact in addressing an area many skirt around and hope for the best.

It is refreshing to read from Geoff's life how he sought his fears out rather than to wait for them to catch up with him.

More importantly Geoff not only encourages you to seek out and embrace your fears
proactively but demonstrates how to disarm the debilitating effect that fear can have on fulfilling your potential and how you can transform that into a conquering life force.

At a time when many shrink or merely ride the storm of their fears until it subsides Geoff maps out a way to address them more effectively and in a way that will empower you to the point that you will not face fear in the same way again.

Geoff is a true ambassador of personal development and one whose book has inspired
tremendous growth in me in the last 6 months. Thank you Geoff

4.0 out of 5 stars The Proof of The Pudding... 9 Oct 2009
The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Apart from gaining a great deal of useful insight from this book myself, I have recommended it to several Clients (I work as a Hypnotherapist and Life Coach)who have suffered with depression, anxiety and plain old procrastination.

They have each found much food for thought here, and managed to make sense of much of what was troubling them. I would like to claim this is all down to me of course - but the simple truth is that Geoff Thompson has a way of taking complex ideas and making them accessible to all.

If you want to spend 20 years wading through hundreds of great works, by some of the intellectual giants, to find meaning to your life (and there is nothing wrong with that!) do so. If you want to learn from somebody who has walked that path, and has the ability to distil it all down to plain English - read Geoff Thompson. You will end up in the same place eventually, but the journey may be considrably shorter and quicker if you walk in his footsteps!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book 27 Dec 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This book was an out of print book when I bought it, I bought it on the recommendation of friend. I read alot of self development books as i'm learning pick up. This book has some similar ideas in Eckhart Tolle's book where he describes negative thoughts as the pain body, geoff thompson speaks of negative thoughts/ fear as shadows. The book really helped and is well written and easy to read. I recommend buying this book
