Maybe I expected too much. I thought the premise was intriguing, so I started reading with great interest. Then I got to the middle and I just didn't care; however, I finished the book and I must admit that it picked up at the end. I have Logan's THE PRICE OF BLOOD and will read it. Hopefully he's fixed his problems.

For fans of Louis L'Amour's "The Walking Drum" and its historical ilk, Mr. Logan's research will set your teeth on edge. For example, he states that the term "assasin" came from Egypt, when in fact it came from Iran. If you know anything about popular history, avoid this book. It jarred me enough that I read half, then just read the end. While I liked his writing, I won't buy anything else of his until someone tells me it's safe to read it!

Written from the heart 20 May 2006
By James P. Lea - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
In his debut novel Chuck Logan writes anything but the atypical thriller. In creating his characters and location it is very obvious that he is writing about what he knows and drawing from personal experiences. This book is a touch harder and gritier than most thrillers on the market and therin lies its strength. Combining this with a great command of the language and some of the most original descriptions I have ever read make this a powerful and captivating read. The characters act real and the twists and turns of the plot keep the action moving. Recommended if you are looking for something harsher and more moving than your average thriller.

Twisted mayhem 18 Aug 2011

This book is just FULL of some very unlikeable characters but to me that makes it more believable.

Gritty, kinky, with parts of it over-the-top fantastical but Logan can write. He draws you in and wraps you up in word pictures and you don't escape until you finish reading the last line.

The alcoholism and alcohol moments - VERY true-to-life. Also the war experiences seemed to come from the writer's heart or own past. Great descriptive passages concerning Minnesota.

I will definitely be reading more of Logan's work.

Just found Chuck Logan! 22 Mar 2011
By J. Stroh - Published on Amazon.com

I found Chuck Logan by accident as I was searching for books by Chuck Hogan and accidentally ordered Hunter's Moon. I found out my error and decided to read it anyway and I was surprised that the book was so well written and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Since Mr. Logan impressed me so much, I have ordered all of his books and am looking forward to reading them.

But, Hunter's Moon is NOT your typical Viet Nam veteran novel. Lots of twists and turns and keeps you guessing what is going on without losing your interest. The ending throws you a curve and keeps you going to the very last page. I am looking forward to reading Mr. Logan's books!!
