Product Description

Product Description

Stunned and outraged by the extravagant lifestyles of the Saudi Arabian Royal Family, the Crown Prince and heir to the throne recruits France to help him overthrow the Saudi ruler. With the aid of French hunter killer submarines the Prince plans to inflict heavy damage on the massive oil installations and loading docks on the shores of the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf, thus destroying the Saudi oil industry and bankrupting the monarch. While the French Special Forces engage in a daredevil operation above and below water, the mysterious Major Jacques Gamoudi marshals yet more ex-French Foreign Legion fighters to take the Southern military base on the Yemen border, then the capital city of Riyadh. Quickly, Admiral Arnold Morgan is asked to take charge of the counter-operation from the White House. In a desperate battle for the desert kingdom, Gamoudi is joined by Morgan's old nemesis, Hamas' General Ravi Rashood. The French intend to assassinate Major Gamoudi, but with the world's oil markets in chaos, the US has one aim - to take him alive and force a confession for what the French have done.

4.0 out of 5 stars Certainly not a dissapointment but Morgan needs to retire!, 5 Sep 2005
This review is from: Hunter Killer (Hardcover)
Having read all of Robinson's books in this series I was excited to see this one out at the airport before I went on holiday. It certainly did not dissapoint and although the plotline does seem a little far fetched it certainly makes you think and in today's world, who knows? A great page turner which I couldn't put down but surely it's time for Morgan to properly retire once and for all. Also I can't believe that Jimmy Ramshawe hasn't made Admiral yet, he has saved the world at least four times by my count! Patrick needs some new characters I think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun, 28 Aug 2006

Unlike some of the other reviews I read books to be entertained and this book did it for me. Far from the plot being far-fetched find it completly possible. The Saudies are going to fall it is only a matter of when and picking the French as the devious nation to be party to the fall is perfect as they are the most self centred and power hungry nation in Europe. This was fun and I past a dull and wet weekend being amused and thrilled in turn. It was a nice touch of Clancy and like him the attention to detail was first class. Will now set out to read his other books. More please.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another cracker….., 23 Nov 2005

This review is from: Hunter Killer (Hardcover)
Where I live this book isn’t being allowed onto the bookshelves so I had to buy it while on holiday (I bet you can’t guess where I live). The synopsis gives you the story so there’s no need for me to repeat it but I will say one thing…..but it! I’ve read Patrick Robinsons books from Nititz Class through to this one and I’ve never been disappointed and this one is no different. The attention to detail is scarily accurate and the story is a little bit more likely than you’d think. The good-guys as always are Arnold Morgan and Jimmy Rimshawe while the baddies in this book come in the form of the French.

My one hope with this book is that Arnold Morgan will retire for good and let Jimmy Rimshawe take over in the next installment.

An all round great read that will keep you turning pages into the early hours. What more could you want from a thriller!

3.0 out of 5 stars An average thriller - nowhere near his best
