Befriending one's favorite author has its perks. I received an e-mail earlier tonight (now yesterday) from Mr. Happy stating that "Hunter of Gunmen" was (finally-- little dig at author) available. Well, I've been down this literary road before: meeting the new characters, getting reacquainted with the old ones, noting the hints of what lurks down the road... all precisely (and seemingly effortlessly for the author) laid out over several introductory chapters. At any moment... I know the action will ramp-up and off we go non-stop at warp speed.
Ha! but the clock keeps circling around and midnight approaches and i have places to go, things to do tomorrow! But how does one simply put this book (like the two that preceded it) down? ONLY with difficulty. I have had the experience of staying up all night once before reading its predecessor, so I now know I simply must put the book aside for the night and start again tomorrow... ha. If it were only that easy... It's tempting to keep nibbling away chapter by chapter risking the sun coming up as I race through the chapters. But not this time, Mr. Happy! I'm going to bed (but keeping the kindle close by... just in case). So, when's book #4 coming out?
