I had one expectation for this book - as it said that this was the 'ultimate guide' on the tributes.. I had hoped that perhaps we'd find out the names of the various tributes that were simply dismissed as "Tribute boy or Tribute girl". No such luck.
What you did get was a very condescending picture book for your money. One picture showed the 'tributes' in a hallway, and there was something to the effect for flavour text of 'realizing how young they were because they were so impatient'....
You get regurgitated pictures of the various districts that are freely available on Facebook and the internet as promotional material, and you quite simply get the feeling that whomever 'wrote' the book (and I use the word wrote scathingly) envisaged it a pictorial cliff-notes for those who cannot be bothered to read the series, or watch the movie.
I regret buying this.

The product description describes the Tribute Guide in the following manner (typo copied directly - they didn't even take the time to proof read this description!):

A number of Tributes were secondary or ternary characters and it would have slowed the pace of The Hunger Games if Suzanne Collins went into more detail of all the Tributes and their districts in the book. This means she created empathy for a number of characters without allowing the reader to hear their story. From the product description of the Tribute Guide I expected the compiler to have worked with Collins to fill in the gaps left in the books. Instead the Tribute Guide consists of a series of images with small pockets of information taken from the books, just leaving blanks on any of the information not contained in The Hunger Games. It mainly re-tells Katniss and Peeta's journey in synopsis form, with little more than a nod to the other Tributes (aside from filling the centre pages with a page shot of each character from the film.)
It feels as if this was pulled together by a marketing executive in an afternoon with no consultation with the author of The Hunger Games. This book was a great disappointment.

With the anticipation of The Hunger Games movie in cinemas soon I wanted to read as much as I could about them. Seeing this in our local book shop I brought it.
The book is full of pictures from the movie; it gives pictorially a great sense for the film. I loved the pictures and can't wait to see the captures on the big screen. The different sections of the book showed us more not seen before pictures and were brilliant for any Hunger Games Fan.
I really liked the profiles of the characters. I feel this section shed some light on the major characters from the film.
The written part of the book leads up to just before Katniss is launched into the arena. It is a much shorter less detailed version of the novel and I felt was written for a much younger age group.
I did enjoy the book and I feel that it is a good way to introduce the film and the start of Katniss's story.
I would give The Hunger Games: Tribute Guide a 4/5 - A must for ANY Hunger Games Fan.

This book is very interesting like it was wrote by a capitol reporter. It's a very good read if you want to find out more about the tributes. I rated this book only four as it could use a little more information. I would love to recommend this to any Hunger Games Trilogy fan.

This book was fantastic, and a really enjoyable read. It gave pages full of pictures and information. Although I loved this book, it doesn't give any information about the arena or anything that happened in the arena which was a little disappointing.
The pictures were also great, as in the movie you do not get the privilege of seeing the actors faces clearly. I must say though, for £4.40 I thought it was a great deal, and made a really good read. It is the type of book that you can read over and over again and not get bored of it. If you don't fully understand the concept of the hunger games, this book will explain all.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and recommend it to any buyer.

This is a nice, but not nessisary part of your Hunger Games collection. Bought it before watching the film so it was nice to know what each of the caracters would look like in the films compared to my imagination when reading the books. They are all very similar.

My daughter just loved this book. We went together to the avant premiere of the movie on March 21st, here in Lima PERU and loved it. Recommended for those fans of the HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY.
