Product Description

Double bill of sci-fi action films based on the first two novels of Suzanne Collins' trilogy. In 'The Hunger Games' (2012) Jennifer Lawrence stars as 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a citizen of the totalitarian post-apocalyptic country of Panem, formerly the United States. Every year, the all-powerful ruling agency known as the Capitol selects one boy and one girl from each of Panem's 12 impoverished rival districts to fight to the death on live national television in a contest known as 'The Hunger Games', in which the winner is given food to feed their entire district for a year. When her younger sister Primrose (Willow Shields) is selected as a contestant, Katniss steps up to take her place. Under the tutelage of inebriated former champion Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson), Katniss goes into training for the fight of her life. In 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' (2013), fresh from her triumph in the 74th Annual Hunger Games, Katniss, along with fellow winner Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), returns home to District 12 for some much-needed rest. But soon after, while on a 'Victory Tour' of the other districts, she becomes aware of growing dissent to the Capitol's rule, and realises that rebellion is in the air. As Panem prepares itself for the third 'Quarter Quell' (75th Hunger Games), autocratic ruler President Coriolanus Snow (Donald Sutherland), still smarting from the Capitol's humiliation in the last games, stacks the deck to ensure that the upcoming tournament will wipe out any resistance from the districts once and for all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money 19 Mar 2014
By Mel - London VINE VOICE
Format:Blu-ray
No reflection on the movies themselves, but I do agree with the other comment here. This twin pack Bluray represents very poor value for money - no extras whatsoever and the slightly edited 12 cert version of Hunger Games rather than the 15 cert Bluray that is already available. Pay a little extra and get the individual titles rather than this rip off, because the extras are certainly worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great film made even better by Jen 25 Mar 2014

OK, so I am biased and besotted by the stunning Jennifer Lawrence. But actually, this is a great film and as good, if not better than the first one (talking about disk 2 here). I really can't wait for the 3rd film to come out so I can get some closure on the story :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars Great movies, very poor product! 17 Mar 2014
By MikeyW
Format:Blu-ray
I loved both of these films, the poor rating here is aimed at the product, not the movies. I just purchased this item today and I am really angry at how short changed I have been. I expected to find that the uncut version of the first film would be included (the rated 15 version) it was not. Both films are single disc and there are no special features whatsoever. The artwork on both covers are poor, plain black with the Mockinjay pin and Jabberjay pin. Not fair. When buying blu-rays there are usually more special features than there are on DVD but instead I have wasted my money here. Do yourself a favour and buy both blu-rays separately. It will only cost 1 more and it will be worth it. I really hope I can get a refund on this. Just goes to show that even if both movies make a billion dollars each, the studio will still jump at the chance to make just that little, insignificant bit more. That is poor lionsgate, just poor.
UPDATE: I just managed to refund the item in Tesco. I picked up the Catching fire for 13 and I just ordered the uncut version of the first one for 8 on amazon. Just wish I had done that in the first place.
