This review is from: Humax Digital Satellite Set Top Box - Freesat - Foxsat HD (Electronics)
Been thinking of getting one of these for a while now so took the plunge. We only watched the basic channels on Sky anyway so didnt think it was worth the subscription fee. Anyway, package arrived day after order was placed, well packaged as usual from Amazon and as has already been said, It took longer to remove the Sky box than set up the Humax, plugged it in, turned it on and it asked me if I wanted to check for software updates, pressed ok and it serched for any available updates which it found and dowloaded straight away. Next `Search for available channels`, pressed ok and (I think)160 odd TV and radio channels were found and saved, whole setup was totally automatic and took about ten mins, totally idiot proof, which I was glad about.
Picture quality on the normal channels is superb, probably better than Sky and the HD channel (only one available at the moment) is stunning on the supplied HDMi cable, I have ordered a better cable so look forward to even better quality. On screen format is simlar to Sky with the what`s on today, tommorrow etc, program info, favorites in fact all that Sky has and more. The unit itself is much smaller than it looks in the pic which is nice, about half the size of a Sky box. Some basic remote functions are available under a flap on the front of the unit and the rear has two scarts, Hdmi, Ethernet, Usb, LNB in (sat cable), component vid, SPDIF, Audio (RCA). User manual is very comperhensive with lots of little things you would never know, unless you read it..lol Overall I`m very pleased with it (only had it a couple of hours) but first impressions are excellent, and no more bills
