Biography

German rock-pop band Tokio Hotel are well known throughout Europe after the release of their debut German language album Schrei - so laut du kannst in 2006 and its follow-up in 2007 Zimmer 483. Both albums, released before the band members -- vocalist Bill Kaulitz and guitarist Tom Kaulitz bassist Georg Listing and drummer Gustav Schäfer - were 18, spawned a string of hit singles ... 5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars, easily! 26 Jan 2010
By Emi-Lou
Format:Audio CD
Tokio Hotel's brand new album "Humanoid" is, in my opinion, beyond perfection. The songs are much unlike the ones on Tokio Hotel's previous albums, but they're still full of amazing music and captivating, meaningful lyrics. Having an "Automatic" theme, "Humanoid" is all about electronic, mechanical sounds created by instruments such as synthesizers; however, acoustic and percussion instruments are still used, such as in the song "Zoom Into Me", in which a piano is clearly heard.
Some songs, like "Human Connect to Human" are heavy and fit more into the rock genre, whereas others, like "Phantomrider" are softer and sweeter.
Bill Kaulitz's voice is very soft (and also very edited, keeping to the "Automatic" theme), despite his thick German accent, which makes the music pleasant to listen to.
The bonus tracks ("That Day", "Screamin'", "Attention", "Down On You" and "In Your Shadow") are less edited and are closer to their sound in their previous albums: "Schrei", "Zimmer 483" and "Scream".
In conclusion, there's something on "Humanoid" for everyone, not just 14 year old girls like me. I've met many guys who love the album, and adults too. It's definitely my favourite album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best album by far! 13 Oct 2009
Format:Audio CD
Prepare yourself to be dazzled. These german boys have turned into men and it is reflected in both their sound and lyrics. What makes this album even more impressive is the fact that the band co-wrote all lyrics and music and co produced the entire album. Past work did have a sense of sentimentality about it but this album is by far the most superior work they have achieved.
World behind my walls is song that expresses the yearning to find love but being slightly scared of the prospect of opening yousrself up and laying yourself bare to someone and asking thenm to love you. Something I am sure we can all relate to at some point of our lives. They have a perfect mix of uptempo numbers and touching ballad/soft rock type tracks. In short there is something for everyone and something to suit every mood. If you've never sampled the delights of tokio hotel before, buy humanoid. I 110% guarantee you wont be disappointed. Get ready for the Tokio Hotel invasion which is heading to UK shores throughout 2010!

5.0 out of 5 stars Labour of love 24 Mar 2010
By L. Wool
Format:Audio CD
Since their last album, countless touring, and awards, Tokio Hotel took over a year out to work on their 3rd album; Humanoid. It is a theme based on the twins' experiences of feeling like aliens during their younger school years in the small village where they grew up. A theme which seems to echo in their current success as international rock stars.

But getting back to the album. As a (still) new fan, and having 'found' them during the Humanoid phase, I wasn't able to see the changes many fans were going on about. I didn't quite get it because I just love it. Currently, there is one maybe two songs left on this 12 song album that I am still warming to. So then I got Scream and Zimmer 483 and understood. Well, the changes are different, but isn't that what any creative artist does? This album experiments with keyboards and other synth sounds. Bill Kaulitz's vocals are deeper and also more interesting because of it, imo, than staying safe with what they were known for. The lyrics and songwriting show a growing maturity as well. A nice touch is that their fight for your dreams philosophy hasn't changed much.

I had the added bonus of seeing them in concert in Oberhausen, where they sang most of the new songs in German and even though I couldn't yet follow all the lyrics, it was still a really spectacular show and I loved every moment!

So, if you are a die-hard of Scream or Room 483 or their German versions and find disappointment with this album, you are missing out. And if you haven't yet discovered them, be prepared for a very pleasant surprise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tokio Hotel new album brilliant 8 Jan 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I bought this for my 8 year old son who for some reason is a big Tokio Hotel fan. Thought he might be disappointed as he loved the last album so much. But to my surprise he's already belting out the songs and I must say that I even like some of the songs myself. I won't tell him that though as he will go right off them if he thinks mum thinks they're cool.
