I bought this title on a whim, as it was super cheap (I got it for £1.00 with free delivery which arrived the next day...cannot argue with that.) For a £1 title, I was most impressed with the title cover. It comes in quite a slick card sleeve housing the DVD case. Never have I seen a plastic-wrapped, sleeved DVD so cheap.
I have to admit, I wasn't overly impressed with the quality of the cinematography overall. The production value seemed quite low and the acting wasn't particularly convincing. It's obvious to see the direction that the director was aiming for, but unfortunately, the mark was missed. But there is light at the end of this tunnel.
Humanist, in a dark sense is quite funny. There are lots of little hilarities in the actions and dialogue of the blundering trio around which the story is central. The slang-talking Nuns got a few chuckles from me. Overall, this movie is good entertainment that is definitely worth a watch. If you have a pound to spare and some time I can recommend this wholeheartedly. But I wouldn't put this top of the importance list of Korean cinema available.
An honest 3 stars.
