Product Description

From the Back Cover

‘The book is well-written and very up-to-date; it has a readable and accessible style, with the jargon kept to a minimum. The discussion point in the assessment chapter was ingenious and stimulating.’

Dr Graham Hole, University of Sussex

Following the success of the first edition, Human Neuropsychology has been comprehensively updated to cover every major topic in the field while simultaneously introducing students to significant new developments in the area.

This book provides the perfect balance between theory and application, enabling the reader to develop a complete understanding of the subject. It is also an invaluable reference tool to aid further study.

Features

  • Incorporates chapter summaries, case studies, illustrations and examples throughout the text for clear explanation and understanding.
  • Uses photographic content to convey the science through visual examples.
  • Includes a listing of neuropsychology web resources, alongside links to relevant journals.

‘It is the only text that provides several theories on frontal lobe function and also mentions the dysexecutive syndrome. The problems associated with neuropsychological testing are well-presented. The case studies are an excellent component of the book. It brings a truly applied aspect to each chapter. I’d definitely recommend this book.’

Dr Nicola Starkey, University of Wakato

4.0 out of 5 stars Human Neuropsychology 24 July 2003
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This is a nice book, with useful overviews of various neuropsychological areas. It has come in handy for a variety of Psychology modules (at BSc level). These include Psychobiology, Psychophysiology, Psychopharmacology, Cognitive Neuropsychology and the overview required to start writing a dissertation in this area.
It enables you to read a non-jargonistic overview, before diving in to the highly jargonistic world of neuropsychological journal articles. Additionally, it gives some useful website addresses and has a comprehensive glossery.
It is a good, all round basic textbook for the neuropsychological area.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting 11 Oct 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
A good source for information and a good guide to help you through Human Neuropsychology. Some chapters are backed up with excellent illustrations and further references which are not your ususal repeating references you get in older txt books. A good modern approach and i would highly recommend for students who are studying in their first / second year. A good companion to go along with other sources, for example "Neuroscience: Exploring the brain" which would be a much more definite book, but this book is definately not one to be overlooked.
Really helped me in some of my assignments regarding a modern view and fairly easy to keep up with.
Very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read 3 Oct 2012
By Joshua Correa - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I found Human Neuropsychology to be well written. I felt that it was written to appeal not only to the scientific understanding, of the student, but also to the humorous side as well. When discussing myoclonus, the author's humorous side is expressed. "Another well-known and not too disruptive example is the orgasm." I found that and several other examples to be quite funny.
