Book Description

9 Aug 1996 0723424853 978-0723424857 2
This textbook was developed to respond to the increasing focus on cell biology, computer simulation and clinical material in todays histology courses. The book integrates concise text, excellent quality colour and black-and-white photographs, and improvedthree-dimensional artwork of histologic structures. It is the only book available that focuses strictly on human tissues. In addition to practical histology boxes, which help students relate material to lab work, it contains clinical histology boxes with information relating to medical practice, advanced concepts boxes or the ambitious student and key fact boxes.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent text for the budding histologist 21 Oct 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This text is a clear and concise read. Organs and systems are reviewed alongside good quality photomicrographs for tissue recognition. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in tissue pathology.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good....with the odd glitch 8 April 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I found this book incredibly useful when it came to learning about histology for certain exams. The content is definately easy to get into and it's full of pretty little pictures. The authors appear to have a pesonality which is a rare pleasure these days (having had a lecture by one of them). However, there are a few problems with the book in my opinion. First of all, if you need to be able to ID things under a microscope then the book by Kerr is infinately superior and it has a more concise text so its great for if you're in hurry and don't feel like ploughing through Stevens and Lowe...which brings me to my 2nd point; some bits are confusing because the book is quite simplistic and touches on certain things but doesn't really explain their significance very well or go into any depth - integrins and laminin being a good example. Overall I would recommend it to anyone studing histology as a cosy introduction to histology and as an essential asset for breezing those medschool exams!

3.0 out of 5 stars Average-ish histology book 22 Jan 2007
By K
Format:Paperback
Human histology is a good histology book but not great as although it has a lot of detail it has nowhere near as many micrographs as Wheater's.

Also it seems to have reclassified connective tissue as 'support tissue' and divides it up in different sections which is really annoying because most lectures, textbooks, websites, etc. will still refer to it as 'connective tissue'.

Minor gripes aside the main problem is the lack of photos, [...]
