Product Description

Product Description

This volume offers a celebration of 50 contemporary artists from around the world who have chosen to create the human form in clay. The text includes a detailed account of each artist's work, along with biographical details and descriptions of working methods. Each artist has been asked to nominate a major source of inspiration - whether another artist or key work, in any medium and from any culture - giving the reasons for their choice. The resulting illustrations - ranging from the Willendorf Venus to a Michelangelo Pieta - combine with photographs of the artists' work to make this a book that should inform and inspire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really intriging book !, 8 Dec 2011
This review is from: The Human Form in Clay (Hardcover)
As an art student , who isnt really so much into the long worded bland art books this was great from a practically point of veiw explaining how works where made and the artists insperations to their work and the ideas behind the pieces shown. Even for the general public this would be a great book as the works arent the overly shocking kind or minimal but the kinda you could spend a good while looking at skilled asethtic art. Great inspiring buy !

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, 20 Feb 2011
This review is from: The Human Form in Clay (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful book to dip into. The photographs are great. It covers a wide variety of artists working in different styles, many of them brilliant and working across a broad spectrum. The quotes from the artists are enlightening and useful. Its a book I had to have from the moment I saw it and this is the best price I've found. It arrived quickly and I feel like a child with their comfort toy!
