I first read The Human Evasion a little over twenty years ago and have revisited it several times since. Simply put this is an extraordinary book. Is there a problem with sanity? You wouldn't think so until you consider that perfectly ordinary people can consider themselves to be part of a 'master race' or believe that a kind and loving God wishes to grant bumper crops to one group of people yet unleash a Tsunami upon another.
being sane doesn't stop us from believing in mad ideas. If you want to know why, then I stongly recommend you read Celia Green's excellent book. It's short, to the point and funny too.
I cannot recommend it highly enough. Everyone should read it.
