im a first year medical student at sheffield uni, and i wanted to wait a while until i bought my anatomy book. the one on the reading list is jacobs atlas, and snells clinical anatomy. when i looked at these ones, i didnt really like them at all. so i had a look around and decided to buy this one after looking at it in the library. i think this book managed to combine an anatomy atlas and textbook very well.. it has lots of good quality dissection pictures, along with diagrams showing which way round they are, cross section slides and surface anatomy. really good anatomy book.

For whatever inexplicable reason my 15 year old son showed an interest in human anatomy, and asked for such a book for Christmas. This review therefore is based on purely layman's opinions; (my son is studying for Standard grade and I am an engineer).
The book is in soft back format; in many ways this is an asset because it invites being picked up. The book is brilliantly illustrated with a mix of photographs, diagrams explaining the salient features in the photographs, and a host of other x-ray and related images. Naturally the text is in a very technical format, quite as expected; (my son now delights in pointing out various parts of the body using the correct Latin descriptor).
Not cheap at some £35, but I assess that it is worth the money, if that is what you are looking for; bear in mind that I am a layman.

This is a book on human anatomy, bought for my daughter who is a medical student at Cardiff University. I cannot comment on the book but I can comment on the purchasing proceedure and, as usual, it went off absolutely smoothly.
