More About the Author

A smile ... a cuddle ... a shared memory ... a story is much more than words.

Think back. Remember that special book - the one that you always chose. The one that made you laugh, the one that made you cry. The characters, so real, they are still in your heart and will be always alive...

I started writing full-time in 2006 and I love the job that I do. I want my stories to be those special ones; the ones that will be remembered forever.

I was born and grew up in industrial South Wales where factory chimneys outnumbered the sheep on the hills! When I was eighteen I moved to Bath where I trained to be a primary school teacher, graduating in 1987.

When my eldest daughter was born, I decided to leave teaching to spend time at home being a mum and to try to improve my cooking skills (which are still not good!).

More recently, I have supported children in primary schools where I have implemented literacy programmes and re-integrated children returning to school following periods of long-term illness. It was during this time that I became passionate about writing for children - convinced that language, expressed through wonderful literature, is the key that stimulates learning and imagination.

I now live in a hidden valley, surrounded by sheep, wild deer and cows with big fluffy ears! Along with my husband and two daughters, I share an ancient cottage with a huge Golden Retriever called Dylan, two cats, guinea pigs and a teeny mini-lop eared rabbit!

About the Author

Tracey is the author of Hubble Bubble, Granny Trouble. She was born and grew up in industrial South Wales and now lives in a hidden valley in Gloucestershire with her husband, two children and an ever-increasing menagerie of devilishly-cute-but-sometimes-rather-naughty pets. A trained teacher, Tracey has always had a passion for wonderful literature and began writing for children in 2006. Her books for other publishers include The Grunt and The Grouch series about two riotous trolls, and numerous picture books including The Little White Owl. Joe Berger is the illustrator of Hubble Bubble Granny Trouble. When Joe was sixteen, his mum admonished him for doing nothing but whizzing about entertaining himselfA". Now in his early forties, Joe continues to whizz about entertaining himself - but tries to include as many other people as he can in the process - as a children's author, illustrator and cartoonist who also makes the occasional award-winning animated short film and title-sequence. He is co-creator of the Berger & Wyse food cartoon in the Guardian magazine each saturday, and has illustrated numerous books, inside and out, for children and grown-ups. When not working he loves to play modern family strategy boardgames. Joe lives in Bristol with his wife, three daughters, two cats and a small dog, all of whom refuse to play boardgames with him. His mum still wishes he'd calm down and start being sensible.

I purchased this for my 3 and 1/2 grandaughter and we both love it, my birthday is Halloween and my grandaughter calls me Granny so I had to get it. It's a great story, the illustrations are excellent and we read it everytime she is here. My grandaughter finds it hilarious with burping bats and froggy poop soup.

The girl is never named and her granny is never called a witch. But we all know that she is. In this second adventure, the pair embark on a makeover to make granny look more like other grannies, less different. But will they both be happy?

Great rhyming story with some wonderful spells (this time making a teacher's clothes disappear!) and a nice message.

My son loved the first book and was thrilled to see this tale, and he loved it at bedtime. We liked the fact that the girl never seems to outright know her gradma is a witch and the lovely relationship they have with each other.

Great series and enjoyably wacky illustrations. For ages 3-7.

This is a wonderful book. I had already bought the other one Whizz Pop Granny stop and loved the story. It was on the back of this book that I discovered there was this story. It has a good rhyming text and the illustrations are good. They are nice and clear and there is just the right amount of text for young children not to get too bored with. This book has lead to lots of discussions of what we think our grannies would do if they were a witch. I would recommend this book for all young children and would also recommend the other one in the series. This book arrived on time and in good condition.

Grannies come in all shapes and sizes but this little girl has a very unusual granny - but should she try to change her? You'd think that a granny whose pets are cats and frogs and bats; who makes things disappear and who travels on a broomstick would be great fun, but this one is embarrassing! The little girl decides to make her more normal but in the end decides her old granny was much more fun. The catchy rhymes make the story flow and convey the message that different is good - there's room for us all and we should love people for what they are. To me, the illustrations have a charmingly old-fashioned feel, which echo the sentiment of the book excellently.
