I bought this in the EE shop yesterday. Various health problems have led me to suspect I might be admitted to hospital anytime soon - I was right. The NHS provide a wonderful service but they do not yet provide an option for Wifi (a service I would be happy to pay for if such a facility existed). Knowing this would be the case I bought this unit at short notice in hope of retaining some link to the outside world, and a permanent solution to boredom during the long hours of enforced idleness. I simply wanted to generate a Wifi hotspot from my hospital bed to connect to the internet via my laptop. I've been umming and ahhing for some time about such a device - until recently, most of the USB dongle equivalents in production seem to harvest mixed reviews at best, and I could not afford to be disappointed.

I was uncompromising on the need for 4G compatibility as I wanted it to accurately mimic a conventional Wifi hotspot as closely as possible, with little to no compromise on speed if at all avoidable. Also, with any big ticket purchase I want to make sure I'm getting the most up to date technology available - this is 2014 after all, and 3G is clearly being phased out.

I was skeptical at first as my experience with wireless technology has always been wildly variable at best. But, I was pleasantly surprised to find, not so in this case! I was all braced for a long and complicated setup procedure; installing drivers and encountering numerous and poorly explained errors with little or no information as to how to resolve them; this is what usually happens when I buy a new gadget. But I make no exaggeration when I say this far and away exceeded expectations in terms of both setup and performance. Got it home - switched it on, checked my available networks and there it was!

I had been considering buying a MiFi device for some time but was unsure of which one to buy. Having looked at several models and manufacturers It was obvious that Huawei was one of the most popular manufacturers First step complete. Then I had the problem of deciding on which model. Going through all the reviews on Amazon and thinking about should I buy a less expensive 3G model or a 4G version, I opted for the latter. Even though 4G doesn't have such good network coverage as 3G I decided to try and 'future proof' as much as possible. I'm sure that the 3G versions work without any problems I just felt happier with going for 4G.
Once opened, it was obvious that it was a factory unlocked device. This was an area I had one or two concerns about after reading that some people had received The item opened and then unlocked....I guess by the supplier....some even still had network operators names on. Nothing like that on the one I purchased, it was exactly as described. Once opened I put it on charge and then read the brief, but adequate, instructions. I had read that some people had just put a sim in and off they went. Some had had problems finding a standard sim and some just wouldn't work! I had decided that I would use EE as my operator.
Off to buy a sim card....a standard one as instructed in the booklet, it implied that a combi sim wasn't suitable. I found out that a plain standard sim is almost impossible to find. I was advised to give a combi sim a try and keep my fingers crossed, not really the advice I wanted but there seemed to be no other option. Once the sim was inserted everything worked as it should....the only 'problem' I had was registering the card with EE.What a lot of messing about! Still it was soon all sorted and now I have Wi-Fi where ever I go.....

I never write reviews, but this is brilliant. It arrived quickly, I opened the box, popped in a SIM (3)... I had to wait for the account to activate but that's a 3 thing. It worked instantly... No faffing, lightning speed (well 4g speed)! I've not tested its range, but it it a great little unit. I ordered the more expensive one, but then realised that this is the same, so got this one instead .... It's brilliant for just over £70!

Gadget mall is no wonder the best seller over here.
I personally have a big experience with Huawei devices over internet. This one is totally different.
it is a bit tricky to get it online and running but really unbelievable.
I wish if I could attach a photo for the speed test. I live in poorest 4G area and I am getting 740 Kilobytes per second download and upload speed as 200 Kilobytes per second.
In strong areas it reaches MB per second.
Thank you Gadget mall so much and thanks Amazon as well.

great unlocked device and great service.

One comment; it shows me as R (Roaming), I don't know why and in fact I don't care. Most importantly it is working well.

I took my Three broadband SIM out of the 3G Huawei E5220 MiFi (supplied to me by Three under contract) and inserted it into the Huawei E5776 modem bought from Amazon. Within less than a minute it connected to the Three network with no requirement to change any settings. My laptop WiFi connected to the E5776 modem using the WiFi key printed on the back of E5776. Later I swapped the SIM back to my old E5220 MiFi for comparative speed tests using Win 8.1 Speed Checker app - 1.69 Mb/s upload (E5220 MiFi) increased to 10.69 Mb/s upload (E5776 MiFi) in my area on Three - I'm now on 4G.
