My experience with the AC Pro is somewhat mixed; as a watering aid it's brilliant, allowing you to set your watering schedule without the hassle of having to be at home for things to get done. It has four main modes - one-touch, pre-set, wizard and manager. One-touch simply gives you five minutes of watering every twenty-four hours, pre-set is the mode you'll probably use most of the time and lets you select one of thirteen pre-programmed modes, while wizard allows you to set the watering duration, days, start time and frequency. Manager mode lets you edit the other settings to better suit your schedule, but unless you're a professional grower or just particularly picky about your plants, probably won't get a lot of use.
In all honesty I found the plethora of options available a bit off-putting at first and certainly not something I could immediately get to grips with, so the pre-set mode was the best for me. The LCD screen does give a fairly clear indication of what's going on but if you're anything like me you'll still need to give the manual a thorough read before you feel properly conversant with the unit.
That is, unfortunately, where the good times for me ended - I had my AC Pro for only a day and used it just once before it broke. It worked fine right up until I removed it from the tap (which was turned off), when some water leaked from the tap spout and splashed over the unit and the screen went blank. After that no amount of coaxing would turn it back on other than the occasional noise from the internal motor opening and closing the valve. I had set the unit up as per the manual, taking care to screw everything down tightly, so all I can think is that the seal around the LCD might not have been perfect, or that some water got into the battery compartment and from there into the main unit itself. I sent the broken unit back and Amazon were brilliant in supplying a replacement, but to be honest I'm afraid to use the new one for fear of it getting wet and shorting out on me as well.
I'll probably get comments for this review such as "it's electronic, of course it shouldn't get wet" or "the manual says to ensure there are no leaks", but to my mind any electronic device that channels or supplies water and that might get wet should be completely and totally sealed. My AC Pro only got a single splash of water (as opposed to total immersion) and this was enough to cause it to fail completely, hardly something to inspire great faith in it. In short, I loved this thing when it worked but to have a watering device that's invariably going to get wet but that's afraid of a bit of water seems ludicrous, and it's for that reason only that I've given it three stars and not more.
