Was looking for a little something with which I can wash the car (albeit very occasionally!), and this is a nifty compact package that sits tidily in the corner, not bothering anyone (especially the wife) and actually looks quite neat. Have only used it a couple of times since I've had it, so can't comment on durability; but very easy to assemble and use. Overall, pleased so far!

Have now had this for a few years - seeing regular but not any heavy use - and it is still as good as new. I would suggest the following recommendations:
1) Every so often, unwind the entire hose and then rewind it back, aligning the hose properly. This prevents nasty twists and kinks from weakening the hose.
2) When unpacking to use for the first time, you are supposed to cut a length of the hose off which wills serve as the connecting pipe from tap to the connection in the centre of the hose. The instructions recommend about a meter. I would suggest approx 2-3 meters as this will give you an added flexibility and freedom to position the hosereel-container at a more convenient distance and position in relation to the tap.

Watch the video by Hozelock BEFORE assembling this product. If I had known this before attempting the assembly it would have saved me a lot of frustration. I also know now that EVERYTHING must be removed out of casing before proceeding further. My problem was that there was a tiny part missing from package but once that was sorted it was straightforward. I found it helped to identify each piece with a small sticker before joining up. I did make quite a few calls to Hozelock for advice but I can assure anyone who buys this product that watching the video is the answer. No doubt there are many buyers who can assemble this without any problems at all but if you are not familiar with garden hose reels the video is the answer. I find it very simple to unwind and rewind. Have just bought the Hozelock Ultra 12 gun (arrived today) which should slot on easily. The one that comes with the reel is fine but I wanted a variety of sprays. In the package there was a round white 'thingy' which I still do not know what it is for. I watched the man on the video taking all the pieces out and it is there too but I didn't see him use that particular piece!!!!!!!!! Perhaps I missed that bit.......................

Hozelock Compact Reel
Meets entirely with my expectations. Does just what it's supposed to. Can recommend it is a must around the garden or anywhere that requires reeling out and reeling in a hosepipe.

Make certain that its a portable one you want
If you are making a comparison and using the Hozelock site they have one that is wall mounted - this one isn't. I got a full refund however.
