This is a good ND filter. Hoya optics have long had a great reputation, so you can be sure that this filter will reduce the amount of light reaching your sensor (or film) without reducing the quality of your photos. It has a slim profile, which reduces the chance of mechanical vignetting. With my lens set at 18mm (equivalent of 28mm on a 35mm film camera) there is no vignetting at all. There is a knurled edge, which makes it easy to screw the filter on and off. Just a couple of little beefs. I did not like the plastic case in which the filter came. I found it a little fiddly, especially considering how frequently you are likely to want to take the filter in and out of it. I now keep the filter in an old circular Hoya filter box. The other beef is not about this filter in particular; I just can't understand why there have to be two standards used by different manufacturers for measuring light reduction. This x8 ND filter is the equivalent of the 0.9 standard used by Tiffen. Both will reduce the light passing through your lens by three f-stops. I like photographing waterfalls, and have obtained some pleasing results by using this filter to lengthen exposure times.

This is a good product and functions well on my camera, but it would be much better with a decent storage case.

Want to take video on a sunny day, must have sunglasses for my cool 60d. This is perfect, expecially when using the recommended settings for "movie look". Makes everything beautiful.

Very nice piece of glass. This fits on my Nikon 17-55mm lens very well and makes a huge difference shooting in daylight

The 3 stop filter is good for lower ligh / golden hour shooting. Its useful/flexible to have a 3 stop and a 6 stop, rather than one 9/10 stopper. Stacking two filters is an issue only with lab busters. purist and people who make wall paper out of their photographs. For the rest, there's nothing visible to fret about. Adequate for real life use! Unless and until you're a pro, forget about the big stopper and enjoy creating daylight pictures with these two having larger apertures bokeh, blurring water, sky etc. Enjoy the process and don't bother too much about these lab tests and reviews, they don't occur in real life...

This filter works great. I've always liked Hoya's filters, and the coatings seem to be effective. This filter covers the lens without causing reflections or flaring.

High quality filter - as usual for this brand. More expensive than others, but in my opinion, well worth it.

This is a very good ND8 filter. This doesn't decrease the quality of the image and can produce nice ND effect. Value for money.
