These filters offer both the amateur and professional photographer Hoya's famous quality, with coatings applied to both surfaces to suppress reflection and increase light transmission. Please check your camera/lens manual for correct thread size.

Hoya has produced very high quality multi-coated glass filters for many years. Actually, this particular filter appears to have been manufactured by the Tokina corporation - and anyone who has owned a Tokina lens will know just how good they can be!
I bought this digital filter mainly to protect the front element of my M.Zuiko 14mm-42mm zoom lens; and although small, I found it was very easy to screw the filter into place. The only slight reservation I have is that the filter incorporates a deep, threaded bezel in front of the filter glass (intended to accept additional accesories), and I'm concerned this might lead to some vignetting at the widest lens setting and at maximum aperture. Will have to experiment!
37mm is an uncommon filter size and goes some way to explaining why the price charged is so high (£15.22, November 2011). I still think that's a lot to pay for such a small piece of glass, however, which is why I've only awarded this product 4 stars.
There again, what would it cost to replace a damaged lens element...

Great for Lumix GX1. 21 Feb 2012
Good quality UV / lens protector. Absolute must to protect your new lens. Fits Pansonic Lumix GX1 PZ lens with no issues. Makes the lens a 5mm longer but shouldn't be an issue when partnered with a good case. Instant despatch.

Go for the good stuff 12 May 2012

There are many cheaper filters out there. The great thing about the Hoya is that it is very slim and the glass is of high quality with true multi-coating. Some will argue that 1. a UV filter is not needed and 2. just buy a cheap one. There is endless debate on this topic - but the UV filter does protect your front lens element and if you get a good one (not cheap) there is no degradation in quality and light. I personally think the investment to protect my lenses is worth it - but your mileage may vary. Overall - solid built product and highly recommended.

The Quality You Expect from Hoya 19 May 2012

The multiple coatings are top quality, although the filter is made in the Philippines, and not Japan. Wish it didn't say that on the rim, though. I have worn through the coatings by now on cheaper filters. Hoya is good quality, in my opinion. By the way, this is not a slim-rim and will vignette with a wide to mid focal length hood. Not a flaw. Just something you wouldn't expect from the description on Amazon. The price was good.
