The receiver fits into the recess in the door frame, where the latch fits. This locates between the door and frame when the door is closed. I have found the Howsar Lock to be exactly as described; tough, portable and strong. Despite having owned two of them for some years I have yet to have any trouble with them at all. The design is simple - and simply put, it works!
However, please bear in mind that this item is advertised as being plastic and lightweight. Like almost any lock, it will NOT resist a determined intruder who uses a high degree of force. It is designed as a deterrent, not a one-size-fits-all answer to all security needs.

After having trouble with a flatmate I decided I would like a lock on my door. But didn't like the idea of a permanent lock because i would have to pay for my own tv licence and didn't like the feeling of being locked in. i have tried door wedges perviously , they required alot of faffing about and didn't seem to work successfully all of the time. For me the "Howsar Lock" was a great solution its quick and easy to use and allows me to piece of mind. I have not owned it for long or put it up to any strenuous testing but it seems really well made. In conclusion i would say it fitted my needs and for the price well worth it

I bought this after staying in a dodgy BB with no locks on the doors. It fits most locks and was simple to use. It is robust and did what I bought it to do. Would highly recomend to anyone. Thanks

great design but too flimsy
Great idea but needs to be made stronger. Any type of weight or shoving of the door snaps the lock. Do not use this lock if you want any type of security! Read more

Does it's job!
Works a treat without the need to drill holes in your walls, very simple to use and conveniant. I think this product will sell in the millions if it was better advertised. Read more

Howsar Lock
This item is probably the worst piece of kit I have purchsed from Amazon or anyone else for that matter - it broke on first use. it is much too flimsy
