We have booked a week in the Howgills for a week's walking holiday without knowing much about the area. The Howgill Fells book has details of 25 walks in the area and although small enough to keep in a pocket seems to have all the information we'll need. Each walk has a sketch map, OS grid reference, a route narrative and drawings of places of interest en route. We'll take an OS map as back up but as far as we can see the only problem we'll have with the book is picking what walks to do in a week.
