I watched this film last year and have watched it many, many times since! It still never fails to make me laugh out loud everytime! it truly is a romantic comedy masterpiece!!! The main actors, Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey have amazing on-screen chemistry making the whole story just flow so much better.

The film's basically about a magazine columnest, Andie Anderson (Hudson) who agrees to write a first hand account on what it takes to drive a man out of your life in exactly 10 days. At the same time eligible ad agency bachelor, Benjamin Barry (McConaughey), excepts a high stakes bet that he can lure any woman into falling head over heels in love with him - also in 10 days! As both meet the cunning Andie uses everything in her power to try and drive Ben away, by using every trick in the book that guys hate, such as baby language, being clingy and frequent mood changes.

This film is absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Hudson and McConaughey both play their parts very well, with depth and comedy. The supporting cast also portray their character's brilliantly! The film is funny, full of heart and with an entertaining and truly different storyline - making 'How to lose a guy in 10 days' truly one of greatest romantic comedy's of it's day!

I would recommend it to anyone - even the lads! One not to be missed!

I am male, and would like to go on the record and say that I found this film hilarious. If you enjoy romantic comedies then this film will not disapoint, whatever your sex. It is my favourite of the genre. Also, there's no doubt about it: Kate Hudson is easy on the eyes for us gents! I would imagine Matthew McConaughey makes a pretty picture for the girls too!

My Thoughts:

As with every romantic comedy Kate Hudson stars in, in this story she certainly shines in her portrayal as a determined, committed and fun loving woman who is put to the test to gain her life's ambition. Kate Hudson truly sparkles in comedy, a trait which seems to have passed down from her talented and beautiful mother Goldie Hawn. Matthew McConaughay however, is in his usual stereotyped role as the handsome, cocky, over-confident and incredibly ambitious eye-candy who somehow always seems to learn from his mistakes with women by the end of the picture. One thing for certain though, is that when Hudson and McConaughay are put together in movies, the chemistry is just about right and is enough just to keep your attention for the duration.

The plot itself is fairly funny at points, and somewhat romantic at others. The main interesting point I found with this film, is that both characters are mirroring each other, both ambitious, both stereotyped in their professions, and both protagonist and antagonist simultaneously. To see the characters working together AND against each other is what truly makes the film so amusing.

The Plot:

Andie Anderson, a talented and ambitious writer working as the resident 'How To...' girl for a leading women's magazine has her heart set on writing a column on serious topics, much to her Boss's chagrin. Andie's friend, Michelle, is heartbreakingly dumped after making the classic mistakes of being overbearing and clingy early in the relationship, prompting Andie to volunteer on writing an article on 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' which will be a dating 'how to' in reverse.

I have watched How to lose a guy in ten days many many times and I feel it is about time I finally wrote a review on this amazing movie.

The story is alot of fun, being a battle of the sexes between Hudson and McConaughey. To keep it short for those who want it snappy: Hudson is an ambitious, high-flying magazine writer who is writing an article on how to lose a guy in ten days. McConaughey is a smooth-talking, charismatic, advertising executive who has accepted a bet to make a woman fall in love with him in ten days. Guess what happens when these two meet?

The story itself, for a romantic-comedy is surprisingly original. True you kind of have an idea what is going to happen in the end but how exactly is the question. The script is sharp, witty, sexy, funny and romantic. Even though this movie is two hours long it really doesn't feel its length.

The acting is great from all involved especially the leads who are obviously having a whole lot of fun, which makes this movie very refreshing.

Add to this a catchy soundtrack (Kiss me springs to mind), some idylic locations and of course the eye candy of McConaughey and you have the perfect romantic-comedy.

I would highly recommend this movie for anyone looking for a fun and entertaining way of spending two hours of their life including men as unlike most romantic-comedies this one is actually genuinely funny. Be grateful if this is the movie your girlfriend insists you watch. You could be watching a whole lot worse.
