Product Description

Product Description

How to be a Complete and Utter Failure turns the concept of self-improvement on its head and offers a total antedote to the motivational, gung-ho, over-enthused tone of all the usual self-improvement guides.

Delivered in fast, easily digestible chunks, in a style that makes you laugh while you learn, this CD offers tongue-in-cheek advice about what not to do to ensure certain failure in every aspect of your life. From not having any goals, to not taking personal responsibility for your life and results, every idea, strategy, suggestion and story is guaranteed to propel you into the slow lane of total inadequacy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Failing with style, 5 Nov 2002
By A Customer
I'd never been one for books on success....all those glossy volumes in airport bookshops featuring smiling Americans with perfect teeth and nasty suits. Now I've found an entertaining, informative and easy to read book telling me how to keep grubbing along and being a victim. Well...it would if I followed the excellent advice on how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Working on the premise that if people are told not to do something they immediately do it, this book sets out to make us successful by stealth. It's packed full of ideas, in a remarkably small space, avoids jargon and manages to be funny too. It also has a slightly uncomfortable habit of making the reader think 'oh...that's me...I better do something about it!'You also recognise a lot of the traits displayed by your colleagues at work. Buy this book. At the very least, if you don't fly, you'll be failing with style.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to be a Complete and Utter Failure in Life, Work and eve, 30 Oct 2002
By Beth (Leeds, England) - See all my reviews
I have read many self-improvement books in the past but never one as innovative, amusing and easy to read as this one. Using reverse psychology this very succint book is the sort that you can dip in and out of but I found it impossible to put down. Steve uses quotes, illustrations, experiences of real people and his own excellent humour to guide you through the various steps to success in everything you do. It is not just a book for business, the techniques can be applied to all areas of life and Steve's approach really works. Now I've obviously not read the book properly because I am already reaping the benefits of success by not following the 39 and 1/2 steps to failure (you'll understand this if you buy the book). When I had finished this book I felt so motivated and equipped to go out there and pursue my dreams. I felt as though I had already succeeded. If you really want to continue in life as a failure then dont buy this book. As for me I cant wait for the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to be a complete and utter failure in life, work and eve, 7 Sep 2005
This book is fantastic if you need some direction, motivation and inspiration. The real life stories and ancedotes are really funny - and it is very readable. It is not like your standard (and often long and boring) self help book. Once you've started reading it you don't want to put it down. There are exercises to do in the book (if you want!) and you can use it as a great ref book any time you need a 'shot in the arm' to make things happen in your life - be it in your career or personal life. It really will change your perspective for the better.

This book embodies the kind of approach I like - serious but not taking itself too seriously. It is witty, engaging and well informed. The negative psychology works well. Read more
