Product Description

Product Description

"Earn millions from your writing?" Really? You think so?
This memoir is a dark, hilarious and salutary tale of the final year in a professional TV writer/ author’s life (also Stand up comedian for fifteen years). It charts his struggles with disinterested Producers, overworked Publishers and venal Agents and is packed with do's, dont's and survival tips for the novice writer. Written in a bone-dry, offhand style, this is a must read for fans of ‘Conversations with my Agent’ or ‘Adventures in the Screen Trade'.

Caution: May contain spleen, bile, invective, scurrilous gossip, comedic set pieces and downright insulting material.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book 22 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A wonderful insight into the world of the aspiring writer. With highs, lows, beautiful use of language, and lots of laughs along the way. This book shows the stark reality of the journey a writer must make to pay day. With agents and other shark like creatures always lurking, to take chunks out along the way. A lovely read from a great writer, comedian and teacher of the writing game. Any aspiring writers, also see the autors other books, How Not to Write a Sitcom and How to be a Sitcom Writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars terrific angstridden joyride 21 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
a great romp through the viper's den that is contemporary publishing and the bleak despair that can ensue in the creative's mind. Hilarious and humane, this writer bares his anxieties with both sensitivity and very funny and sharp writing. Download and cry tears of laughter and despair - in particular if you are considering a writing career yourself! Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars So true! 5 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Laughed out loud and read in one complete sitting then tweeted all my writing students to buy. Not sure that was a good move but hey, let them learn the stark reality of writing for a living. So so true! I think Running Pen stole my life. Seriously well written, funny, vitriolic at times, full of pathos but you really do punt for Running Pen - all the way to the bitter end, You won't regret buying ... Promise.
