5.0 out of 5 stars Aspiring thriller writers, 24 Mar 2009
By P. Edwards (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have read many 'how to' books on writing, and this one is more succinct than most. Not too heavy, yet with all of the main subject matter covered in enough detail. I certainly found it useful as I am writing my first novel, especially the realities of getting published and some of his ideas on how to approach such a commercial project. If you read his first best seller - The Fulcanneli Manuscript (or The Alchemist's Secret in paperback) - you can pick up on how he has applied his own advice. There is no secret formulae for writing a novel, so be warned. This book is good, but no substitute for good old fashioned hard slog and an active imagination - but certainly good for motivating one back to the blank page.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm so glad that I bought this book, 15 May 2007
I'm an aspiring author who has been trying, unsuccessfully, to write a thriller. I lost confidence and didn't have a clue how to continue. What I needed was a friendly voice to guide me. I bought this book out of desperation and read it in a day. To my great delight, it was exactly what I needed! It's packed full of inspirational advice and tips to help even the most blocked writer to get started again. It's stimulating, and refreshingly practical. I highly recommend it, and wouldn't be without it. It's become my best writing buddy!
