Product Description

Synopsis

"How to Worry Friends and Inconvenience People" is from the writer of the successful and popular blog. The perfect gift for those who have a surreal sense of humour, the book's suggestions include measuring the difficulty of games and puzzles in units of the cubic rube, impressing future employers by demonstrating how well you can ride an imaginary horse, and hiding bubble wrap under your doormat to surprise guests. It is featured in the "Times" and on numerous blogs including geek newsletter NTK.

A great gift 26 Oct 2007
Format:Hardcover
Having read some of the earlier reviews I think a note of sanity is called for - I bought this book as a gift, but found it such fun that I decided to keep it and buy another copy. The writer has an impish sense of humour, coupled with wry observations. It is not a challenging book but great fun and an excellent present.

Disgusted 26 Oct 2007
Format:Hardcover
I wholeheartedly agree with the previous, previous reviewer. This book is both witless and offensive.

One particular 'suggestion' advises readers to 'ask for sandwich fillings whilst pointing at others'. A little thought on behalf of the book's publishers would have caused them to realise that people taking this 'advice' would result in many, many lost man-minutes over the course of countless lunchtimes.

Not to mention the annoyance caused to the UK's sandwich making sector, already an under appreciated and oft abused (both verbally and physically) community.

Why 'Leila Johnston' (if that is indeed her name) would want to cause worry and inconvenience to people I have no idea.

Mind you, I did like the suggestion about pretending to be a robot.

As with all of these books there were a few suggestions that didn't really amuse me, but it has a much higher hit rate than most.

So horrified I spat out my own eyes
I was revolted, repulsed, depressed, narked and generally discombobulated by this book, mainly because it wasn't as nauseatingly evil as I'd been led to believe by other reviewers. Read more

Outrageous!
These reviews are simply appaling. I am shocked and offended and hurt and shocked by the insensitivity being shown to such a talented writer. Read more

Why does everything have to be funny the whole time?
I have to say I agree with the previous reviewer. I was quite happily enjoying the humour of this book until I came across a deeply unfunny and distasteful so-called 'joke'. Read more

Shame on you!
This is meant to be a funny book, and probably published in time for the Christmas gift market. However, I found many of the suggestions extremely insensitive. Read more
