Format:Paperback
A simple, clear and easy-to-follow introduction to Dreamweaver and Fireworks (Macromedia's web page design and web graphics applications respectively). The book is organised by task ("How to create hyperlinks", "How to edit a frameset" etc) rather than by feature (as with so many computing manuals), so you can use it as a ready reference as well as starting from the beginning and working your way through.
Each solution is shown step by step with an accompanying (accurate) screen shot and the differences between WIndows and Mac versions of the programs are shown clearly.
A very well written how-to guide that would be a great gift for someone starting to use Dreamweaver and a useful reference book for an intermediate user of the program.

Think about it 21 Aug 2003

This book is great, but trust me it wont do for long. Sure the info in there is great, its to the point and easy to follow. If you have never seen Dreamweaver or used Dreamweaver before then this book will get you up and running in no time at all. But thats where it stops. Youll find it hard to learn anything more than only the very basics. I would reccommend this book if you were an absolute beginner, but if you have used Dreamweaver before or are an intermediate user, then steer well clear. You can easily put the money you would pay for this book to that of a "Chunkier" and so be it more complicated and daunting book, but as you get more efficient thats exactly what you will need. I think the author did a great job, I personally just found it a little too basic and only scratching the surface of what the most powerful website authoring tool can do.

This book is invaluable for the complete beginner, having trawled through the dreamweaver help topics and got no-where, this book is set out in such a way that you can take as much information as you like, skipping over sections which you don't require immediately, building a website within hours. The chapters are well orgainised with full colour step-by-step instructions and cover the absolute basics right through to many of the packages advanced functions. A big thumbs up.
